I ran this as a one-shot and finished this in roughly 6 hours with four players. Overall, the encounters and stories were great and interesting, I would love to rerun this in an actual campaign to go over every encounter and area without rushing through anything. My biggest gripe was the map. It just feels too big, too many open random spaces and overall just difficult to understand. I ended up not using them and just drawing them out in a way I could understand.

Very cool campaign! Great story, nice mix of fighting & puzzles to solve, lots of freedom for the party to explore and decide what to deal with first, but still have consequences for those decisions. Plenty of information for the GM to use as resources. Ran a group of 2nd level characters through and they all enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Highly recommended!

Lots of roleplay activity packed into this adventure, it really reminds me of the adventures I would have with friends in 2e where not every adventure was about saving the world.

This is a great example of an adventure with several exploration opportunities as well as nearly limitless roleplaying. The encounters will be meaningful and memorable. And if your group can help Coppercoil, they may create lifelong allies that can be invaluable to them in the future.

Pros:

• Coppercoil comes alive through environmental storytelling in each area, from an insidiously trapped letter to an interrupted birthday party.
• Everything you need on a single map, with full color and black and white options.
• Fun elements and options for PCs – including a friendly octopus, tamable giant snail, defensive construct, and alarm-blaring trap door.
• Several full page player handouts to draw the PCs into the town’s history and current plight.
• Optional evil party of adventurers that can throw a deliciously evil wrench into the PCs’ plans at any time.

Cons:

• The map needs height elevation markers in the southern area.
• The map feels overly big, and as a result a bit empty.

THE VERDICT: “ATTACK ON COPPERCOIL’S” SUPERB ENVIRONMENTAL STORYTELLING MAKE THIS LOW-LEVEL RESCUE MISSION INTO A GIANT TREE STUMP MEMORABLE AND COMPELLING.

Attack on Coppercoil is excellent! The content is family-friendly enough that it's appropriate for younger kids, but is also engaging and exciting for adults! Game mechanics are flexible and provide players with a ton of different potential outcomes, with tons of awesome twists and turns, along the way. Also, it has a lovable octopus, which will make any adventure an A+ in my book.

so many twist and turns. used it multiple times (diff games) and each time we were able to have a different stiry line basically.

This is a fantastic module. Great for any level of play, well written, and full of great art. Looking forward to the next one! A+
