I got the hardcover version and it arrived in perfect (and I mean perfect) condition. I have not yet read all of it, but I have already needed it to make a character and it got me through it pretty well. Definitely suggest you get some help from your GM or someone else though, because boy is it many words ^^' definitely glad I got the book from drivethrurpg, I'll remember it for whenever I need more nerdy literature, and I look forward to reading all of it when I'm not so busy. (Yes, I read game manuals for fun)

I love this 2nd Edition with a passion, i find it way more enjoyable than the first edition, the rules and mechanics make more sense, and in hindsight while I had many good hours playing the first edition I can see while people described it as "fetishizing victimhood" while the 2nd Edition is written in a way that is much more mindful of the possible mindsets of survivors.

It's simply more fun to play.

My odd complaint is that I can never -find- the product as it appears missing both from the stores library searches and my own library of purchased books. I know the first edition is apparently more popular but is this second edition so unpopular that the store or publisher has chosen to pretend it doesn't exist?? It even took me two years after the products release to find and purchase it, while i checked the site for it for years, thinking it had not been released at all yet.

i bought both the PDF and Hardcover, so i will be primarily talking about the hardcover.

what can be said about Changeling the Lost that hasn't been said? well written? well told? one word i can definitely say is beautiful tradegy. this game, is really well told! the gaming sessions are fun yet when the drama hits, it hits, and my players walk away with a sense of wow, we all had a moment together.

Changeling is definitely one of those games, that if you really want a mature, adult theme game, while just happened to be a fey creature, outcoming tramua and ptsd, this is the game! on page 13 there is a content warning because this game allows for those kinds of topics to be discussed and explored, it also has a section which other games refers back to as well, the "Safe Table" system, and i don't mean that in a sacastic tone. its a system to protect the players first, while maintaining the adult themes of the game, though playing a game in any of the WoD/CofD games, it should be established, i digress. from something simple as allowing players to walk away from a scene if it gets too intense or fade to black, to setup a green, yellow, red system and debriefing after session. this game is really good and definitely has the World of Darkness feel.

the book is gorgeous! i love the thorns and the hedge themes in the pages, again placement of information is a constant problem, but it's par for the course when it comes to that.

of all the reimagining, in my opinion, THIS is the game to play. definitely worth playing as your first Chronicles of Darkness game.

I have played first edition so was intrigued to see what had changed. I adore the splitting of Seemings and Kiths, and I think that allows for more flexible and interesting character creation. I by and large continue to like second ed to first ed nwod for a creation system that is harder to min max. I really love the seasonal court effects when it is that season, I feel like they all add distinctive flavour and drama. Overall fantastic book and I cannot wait to play/run it!

Changeling the Lost Second Edition keeps everything great from the first edition, and refines or replaces any clunky systems with evocative narritive driven options that evoke the dark fairytale feel of the game. Read the entire book and loved the art. Lots of story ideas to be had given the setting. I'm currently running a campaign of my own based on CtL 2e and so far it is going great and my players love it despite the tragic backstory and prelude. Most of the rules are explained well and we had no problems looking them up. Overall I recommend the book to those looking to play as CtL.
