This is a solid, balanced alternative to the Monk, both in play-style and flavor. Like the monk, it's a lightly-armored front-line combatant who focuses on unarmored attacks. Instead of the monk's hit-and-run, save-or-suck style, this class uses temporary hp to tank it out and simply do more damage.

Though the overall balance is excellent, there are a few concerns I have (without having played it). First, it seems a bit too vulnerable to big area-of-effect damage like a dragon's breath; instead of evasion, it just gets advantage on Dexterity saving throws, and with d8 hit dice that can still hurt. Second, there is at least one way that it could be "munchkined"; a cheesy edge combos that most players wouldn't bother with but that seems unintended. That is: temporary hit points last beyond the end of a short rest, meaning you could get them just a moment before the short rest ended and then immediately get the moxie back.

My initial assumption on this class was that it was just going to be a strength based monk alternative, but I've never been happier to be proven wrong. The thematics live somewhere between the fighter, rogue, barbarian, and monk, in the same way that rangers feel like they take cues from fighters, rogues, and druids. I was very impressed with how it feels like both this class and a monk can coexist in the same campaign.

For the Squared Circle subclass, I was impressed that the grappler theme really felt like it had a home in this class in a way that it simple couldn't if Squared Circle were a fighter or barbarian subclass. But the Sweet Science's knockout punch mechanic both tells a compelling story, and sounds incredibly fun to use.

I would absolutely love a chance to play this class when I finally lose the role of ForeverDM.
