Outstanding :-) Couldn’t imagine a solo adventure that was better.

Very thorough, a lot of challenges, good answers, sufficient and varied combat and the end very much in doubt. Just really excellent – my favorite of the series so far (I have played the first 3).

Like any good module, these are best played “as-written,” but as they are solo, the author makes some suggestions for actions but he can’t possibly cover every possibility. So a couple of times you might have your character do something different than the options presented. But what’s amazing is that even those situations are few and far between.

Really outstanding. I am almost always a DM and I REALLY appreciate the opportunity to play these solo games and be a player and also play D&D basically whenever I want.

I’m looking forward to more of these.

Another excellent solo adventure from Paul Bimler. I highly recommend this one. It's interesting, you have a lot of fun encounters and choices, an exceptionally organized game system and varied experiences. I highly recommend this. It's the second half of Tyrant of Zhentil Keep and honestly this one could stand on its own just fine, Tyrant of Zhentil Keep cannot.

I enjoyed playing this game. This game challenged me after part one of this game, and of course i had to buy the next one, because I got really happy that my character became a Knight of the North, and now she's off on the road again, awaiting her next adventure. I hightly hightly reconmmend these solo games because they're worth it if you have that D&D itch and can't find a group to play in, because the more I play these game, the more inspired I get to play them.

I enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next installment.

With The Tyrant of Zentil Keep the entire story arch was engaging. I particulary appreciated the variety of NPCs with their mini stories embedded in the larger story. The combat encounters were challenging. My first character died so I created a more powerful second one, but the dice provided more than enough tension through the fights.

Now I wonder, what lies to the north and how am I going to spend all this gold I got?

I've played through both of the previous solo adventures (Death Knight's Squire & Tyrant of Zhentil Keep) and was really quite excited for this chapter (even after the delays in the release of the book). Now, after playing through this adventure, I have to say that I am rather disappointed. The whole adventure seemed rushed and there seemed to be a lack of player/ DM choice. It almost seemed like the auther was writing a standard novel, instead of a choose your own adventure style of gamebook. This continued throughout the book, ultimately ending the story abrutly, ignoring any decisions made previously and without any setup to the future. As stated in the book, this is supposed to be part of a series of gamebooks that take a player to level 20. I hope there is better follow through in the future.

Paul has put together a great solo adventure and inspired me to continue down the solo adventuring path. Great replayability options as well as the ability to modify it for a small group adventure. Read more at nonzerosumgames.com

This whopper of an adventure is the best one in this series yet and probably one of the best solo adventures for D&D 5e. It has something for everyone, whether it's combat, role-play or exploration. It also feels remarkably less railroady than other solo modules and makes the player feel like they have agency. The author has really stepped up their game with this one ( no pun intended). This and the other books in the series could also make for a great campaign, especially for newer DMs, as they contain a lot of good information and advice on running the game.

Great buy!

I bought this with high expectations. The first two adventures were excellent, and I was skeptical the author could maintain the feel and flow of those quests with an adventure of this size. But my fears were groundless, as I discovered once I started playing through this solo adventure. If I'm completely honest, as a player and DM for 35+ years, this ranks among the best D&D experiences I've ever had, group or solo. Every encounter was thrilling and the storytelling highly immersive. Sometimes I had ideas for things I would have maybe tried in a group game, and the options weren't offered in the text, but this is a solo adventure after all, and is necessarily limited in that regard - it's impossible for the author to anticipate how every player is going to react. To even write one encounter and give every possible option would take a whole book on its own, so the author has done well to cram so many encounters into these 170 or so pages. I thought the book succeeded in always giving a good range of choices that could apply to different play styles, and more importantly it really felt like the choices I was making mattered within the context of my adventure! Bravo to the author, keep these coming! 5 stars, HIGHLY recommend.

The content was decent however the last battle was horrendous, spent way to much time just watching the fight, when in reality no character I have would just watch the fight. Additionally seemed a little more linear then the previous. Should have had the end battle in a battle sheet like the other battles, there was no reason to complicate it.
