The sample sheet is quite representative of what you will receive in this product. In its category, at its price, the product is well worth the purchase. I will definitely be using some of the art in the near future.

LIKED: Affordable price for small publishers; Good art quality for the price. Also, the broad usage license helps us out a lot since clip art almost always needs modification before use in a product.

DISLIKED: For what it is, there's not much to complain about.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Very good as a DM's resource, not so good for players. A lot of the content is setting information, which is of limited usefulness to most people. To make full use of the product, I would want to use it as a basis for a dwarven focused campaign setting rather than an independent sourcebook.

LIKED: Good detail. A lot of work went into this book.

DISLIKED: Too much focus on setting to be greatly useful for any other purpose.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
If it supports RPG Now, I'm all for it. They lose money on the "Free Products" section, but they're willing to do it for the publishers and the customers.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I've commissioned a few images from Rick Hershey on a more personal basis and I can definitely tell a difference in quality from those in this product and those he does on commission. However, that detracts very little from the product when factored in with the difference in costs and the fact that the product is clearly labeled "filler art".
As "filler art", this product is great for the price and deserves the highest rating.

This entire line is pretty good. Worth the price at $5 or under.

Gorgeous. I love it. The usage license is a bit broken, but it's nothing small publishers need to worry about.

Definitely agree with the other reviewier who said most of this would fit better in Science Fiction than fantasy. It's all nice artwork, but only a few are usable for traditional fantasy.

Take it seriously when they say this game is not meant as a mil-sim. It's just a quick little game for folks with a passing interest in flying biplanes. That said, and considering that's EXACTLY what they say it is, it's quite a good product. Certain rules points are annoying but easily changeable. After we get done with this we will have made extensive changes to it, but we'll have a great little game in the end.

Good to hear you enjoyed it John. As you say, its not a detailed military flight simulator and isn't meant to be, more a way to while away an hour or so with your friends :) |

Much to my surprise, this product was fully illustrated and easily contained enough content to justify the price, which is fairly high for a PDF. Were it not for the intangibles, I would rate this product with 5 stars. But the truth is, the creatures contained herein generally failed to inspire me. For the publisher's sake, I wish I could narrow it down more than that, but the simple truth is that not much in this book particularly spiked my interest. By that token, I'll simply add it to my collection and consider it a solid, though not terribly brilliant, collection of creatures and horrors.

I purchased this after having purchased the Warriors collection some time ago and using a few of the images in our products. While the images are not perfect, the price and liberal licensing make this collection the best money we've spent on art to date.
Well worth the price.

Decent "wind and birds" background effects, but the music its self is lacking. A full two and a half to three minutes is nothing but four notes played over and over again.
Better than the V. Shane / Dragon's Gate fare in general and more equivalent in purpose, though I still like the Dungeons and Dragons soundtrack best. If you're looking for moodless ambience, I suppose it's not bad. But I still believe that all music, background or not, needs to be inspiring.
This is not.

Certainly any observation of nature itself, whether in sound, color,or texture, one thing is consistent; its a continuos pattern of design that doesn't impede on the senses. As much as the background in a painting seeks not to overpower the focus of a great work (your game) this music does indeed create an continuos ambient feel that is a synergy to evoke mood in the presence of a game or activity. Perhaps as standalone it may not SEEM to measure up to the business of the mind, but allowing yourself to intermingle with it as part of the enviroment is the true essence of ambient. Not comparisons, inspiration is a personal endeavor . Certainly judge for yourself and not let the opinions of others sway you, decide for youself. |

This one is a little better than "Falling Behind", but still not very good musically. It's more or less a sequence of semi-random chords and effects. Perhaps it invokes emotion in some people, but it certainly doesn't work for me. Even ambient music needs to serve a purpose. This is the equivalent of white noise for me.
If you're looking for ultra-ambient music, I would suggest you purchase a small selection from the D&D soundtrack, this collection, and perhaps some competitors, give them a listen and decide which you like best. Don't go full into this collection until you've heard some of it.

Again your entitled to your opinion, and there are plenty others whom enjoy it. However (again) I disagree with leaving "alternatives" as this shows no respect for the artist, as I don't go around leaving comments to try out other 2D artists in the field. Make you comment and leave it at that. But for those that read, certainly listen to the demo and judge for yourself, and let no one influence your own tastes to what may work for you. |

As a musician, I was disappointed with this one. I could do better in a couple of hours with Cakewalk and my own keyboard. The off-rhythm elements seem random and haphazard. It really doesn't inspire me at all except maybe to take a nap. I would purchase the D&D soundtrack or download the Diablo 2 soundtrack for free before purchasing more of this line.
People into ultra-ambient tracks might like it - as long as you're not actually listening to the music at all.

First off, everyone is certainly entitled to thier own perspective. However, I do find it out of context you use your comment as way to glorify your own talents just short of leaving a web link. It also appears the majority posters enjoy the music, are you saying they have no taste? I create music for people to enjoy, not musicians to critique. I don't create my brand of experimental music to be accepted by my "peers". I certainly wouldn't go around leaving coments on other artists products that I could do better with Painter, Photoshop or traditional mediums. Especially advertising others products as an alternative. Here you create more of an insult to yourself as you apparently show no respect for a fellow musician (been playing and recording off and for over 10 years) and seek to lift yourself and put me down. |
