Darwin's World 2: Survivor's Handbook
Publisher: RPG Objects

This review refers to the PDF/POD combo.
The DW2:SH is a beautifully designed upgrade to the original DW game. The PDFs come in two versions, one designed for on-screen viewing and the other designed for printout.

The game world probably is the closest match to the one encountered in the computer games "Fallout" and "Fallout 2" that I've seen for P&P RPGs.

The mutation system is rich, powerful and more "archetypal" than the one found in the new D20 Gamma World from Sword & Sorcery.

I still haven't received my POD printout of this book after 3 months, so I can't recommend the PDF/POD combo, but really think the PDF by itself is a superb purchase for any post-apocolypse game.

My VALUE rating is only referencing the fact that I still don't have the paper POD version after a quarter of a year.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Character Types, Mutations and general setting atmosphere<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: 1) Didn't care for the cause of the world's current situation, but that is easily remedied by GM fiat.

2) Didn't like that after 3 months I still haven't received the POD book - and would recommend people not order the PDF/POD combo - but HIGHLY recommend the PDF version by itself.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Disappointed<br>

Ah, the Temple of Elemental Evil. I wish I'd had a chance to play this massive campaign when it came out. I've got the D20 "Return..." version by Monte Cook and wanted to see what set up the adventure in book. Fun reading, and could be adapted for D20 with a bunch of work. Great maps!<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Scale, and nostalgia.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Scan of cover was scuffy.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

I like these minis - but I would have preferred two pages worth of minis, rather than two mountings of the same minis. Also, where are the fatties?<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Pretty art.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: No fat people.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Nice art for making pretty maps. This is a lighter product than Campaign Cartographer, and easy to learn & use. I use this, CC-Pro & Dunjinni. I like the value of this product, and hope they come out with more art packs. This can make nice modern/sci-fi maps too.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Ease of use & price.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Want more art for modern urban settings.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Battlemaps: Slave Ship

This is an acceptible ship map for mini fightings. It was the only ship - and I needed a pirate ship. I was able to refit her with some paper minis and make a combat rig of her main deck.

The middle deck seemed unduly compartmentalized.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Good art & layout.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Nothing - just wish they made some pirate boats.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

This is a fantastic product if you're even remotely likely to use Pirates in your adventures. The new classes cover the basics of shipboard types, and the prestige classes get the officers taken care of. Voodoo, monsters, and wonderful background options make an even richer gaming experience.

Blackpowder weapons, ship-to-ship combat, and historical pirate bios finish out the book. It is full of wonderful art, ideas and charts.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: The layout is beautiful and practical.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I wish I had the hard-bound edition, but couldn't find it. This product is worth having!<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Villages - Mapleton
Publisher: UKG Publishing
by William S. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/25/2005 00:00:00

This is a very nifty product for all those gamers out there using internet tools (screenmonkey, klooge-werks, etc...). The village comes as a PDF as well as an HTML document. I'm very pleased with the presentation because the hyperlinks are very easy to follow, and include a nifty javascript pop-out menu that lets you quickly hop from locale to locale, as well as a grid with all the NPCs.

A little background info is provided for some of the major NPCs, plus their stats and any spells. On the one hand, it would be nice to see even more NPCs provided, but on the other this lets me add my own flair to the city without having to ditch information that was already generated by the authors.

Overall, I have to recommend this and wish more PDF authors would include HTML content like this.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Loved the HTML + graphics files for my internet gaming. Outstanding for ease of use by any GM.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I wish maps of a few more buildings had been included.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Thanks for your comments on this. We are sure that at least one of our floor plans products (or even another publishers)has floor maps or other suitable 2d maps for this product. If you like the interactivity have you looked at any of the fantasy grounds range. You would need the fantasy grounds software (available on rpgnow) in order to run adventures, we are currently going over all our products and updating them to include a fantasy grounds file where appropriate, and a lot of up and coming fantasy/d20 items should be fantasy grounds compatible. Deadlands Figures: Cardstock Cowboys Starter
Publisher: Pinnacle Entertainment
by William S. [Verified Purchaser]

I was in a bind and needed some cowboy badguys fast! I normally use metal minis, but I couldn't find any in time. I remembered seeing some cowboy stuff on rpgnow - and I figured this might meet my needs.

Boy did it! These guys are beautiful and feature many of the characters in standing and horse-mounted poses. Very useful! The last two pages are huge monsters from the Deadlands game, which didn't help my game but do give a very good impression of the size of the badguys in the Weird West. Nice stuff!<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: I liked the artwork, which printed out beautifully on my lexmark. I used some cardstock with a shiny surface and these things were just gorgeous. But best of all, if they get messed up I can just print some more.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I wish the product was $8.00 instead of $10.00 - but I'm confident I'll get my $10.00 out of it in use. (I use movie prices as a gage for dollar to hour value.)<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>
