Delve essentially brings Ironsworn underground, expanding moves, settings, monsters, and oracles to cover the thrills, glories, and tragedies of dungeon-crawling. Delve shares Ironsworn's carefully calibrated balance and has inspired many hours of play. Most importantly, the mechanics serve the action in the game, and not vice-versa. The player's imagination is front-and-center. Top marks.

There is a very good balance among the various moves and the possibility of outcomes ranging from great to terrible. The supplemental material describing the Ironlands and its inhabitants is creative and well-thought-out. This is a superior product.

The magic system is attuned to the basic principles of Ironsworn in which adventurers are skilled but not invincible, advantages are modest, risks are ever-present, progress is deliberate, and the player's imagination is the focus of everything that happens in the game. Those principles are what make Ironsworn such an awesome system, and Arcanum does them justice.
