Great resource for a twist on gettng a pet. It was fun decieving my party into getting a peryton egg with them thinking it was a griffon egg. The fight with the mama peryton was fun, but now they want to raise it. I know perytons eat living hearts, so this might be a bit difficult for them. I imagine one day they will want to feast on humanoid hearts and turn on the party. It should make for a dramatic moment.
However, I'm a bit worried about the details of raising it. Do perytons eat anything other than hearts? Do they have to be fresh or can they be salted and stored? What about temperment? Do perytons form attachments to the first thing they see, like birds? When does it reach maturity? What about mating? Do they even have genders? So many questions.
