It's like a MUST BUY product. OSE books themselves and the SRD website are perfect with layout but still, this booklet makes to prepare games a way easier and faster!

Old-School Essentials Advanced Fantasy Player's Tome
Publisher: Necrotic Gnome

It's my 1st OSR RPG and I already love it so much! The rules are easy, yet, much more things to do with compare to typical rules-light systems.

However what it makes me to love OSE so much is for their perfect layout. Everyone talked about the layout of this book is superb and I could understand why. Seriously manytimes the layout matters a lot whether the system's good or bad. I had suffered a lot with few rulebooks with bad layout even if the system itself was simple. Not just about the layout but their adventures and zines are truly useful! Even the OSE generator helps me to save so much time!

Before buying this game, I wanted to try an OSR game and I was a bit stuck to make the decision, among OSE, Basic Fanstasy, DCC and other OSR games. Now I feel like I made a right choice!

Old-School Essentials: Basic Rules

I came to know about RPG in mid of 2010s; I don't have much idea about old school stuffs, so I was a bit curious how the things were before. With a quick glance of this free doc of OSE basic rules, I've got some taste of OSR(well, I haven't tried the game yet so I can't say I really understood the feeling though) and I would like to buy the full materials of this game.

Just one thing is that it'd be better if it included few low level monsters too(even if there's online SRD) so that people can try a short one-shot adventure.

Savage Worlds Adventure Edition
Publisher: Pinnacle Entertainment

I've been playing SW since Deluxe Edition where it's been always one of my best, and SWADE is even better!

I'm someone who can't just stick with one setting; fantasy with dnd, lovecraftian horror with coc, urban fantasy with wod etc... that sometimes it's hard to remember all the basic rules for them. For that reason I love to play generic RPGs and I found GURPS and FATE first. The thing is that GURPS was way too tough to look through such a huge amount of data and FATE was too light. SW stays on the middle; its system gives medium-crunchness along with cinematic/gamelike touch(Benny, Wounds...).

I think SWADE had advanced from DX and I really love the new edition. Only thing is that I am lazy to convert all the SWDX supplements that I have to SWADE version so, waiting for stuffs like Fantasy/SF/Horror Companion, Weird Wars, etc...

Slasher Flick: The Director's Cut

I've been looking for any horror themed rpg that's fresh, different from CoC and ToC then found Slasher Flick in DTRPG somehow. System's quite easy and the system's well focused on Slasher genre. This game explains nicely how to build a gritty slasher story at home with friends.

EZD6 Core Rulebook
Publisher: RUNEHAMMER GAMES
by Leon K. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/20/2022 15:04:24

EDD6's system is just what I was looking for! I started playing RPGs with rules-light ones like FATE and Risus but then I had to shift to a bit more crunchy ones like 5e and SWADE. The reason's simple that those rules-light games don't have any tactical taste but more narrative.

Well, 5e and SWADE are amazing games to play with suficient options for tactics in battles, but when I have to take GM's role, I really become very lazy to prepare all the data for the adventure. For that, I needed something that's rules-light but mixed with minimal size of tactics and customization. I have tried to build easy SW or easy 5e with houserules but they went quite messy...

THEN I FOUND EZD6!

Just finished reading the book last night and I was so shocked how EZD6 satisfy all that I needed for my lazy GMing style! Yet, with taste of customization and tactics!

Right now, even while writing this review, I'm so eager to start EZD6ing with my fellas this weekend! Hope other settings come up with this system.
