This is a fun tweak on a retro-clone which adds some nice twists for newer audiences. Definately worth checking out.

The book emulates the layout and design of AD&D's core books as well, which is great for nostalgia. I do think I'd have liked to have seen what could have been done if they'd charted their own course for layout and design, though.

Take the Silmarillion, remove ever more hope, and you get the world of Forbidden Lands. It's a game with amazing flavor, and brimming with conflicts. They've also adapted the fantastic Year Zero engine for Forbidden Lands and it's fits so well. I purchased this bundle at PAX Unplugged in 2022 after skipping over the game for Christmas the year before--and I regret that. It's an excellent fantasy system.

A very good game when folks take to the 80s and combat the creepy and super-natural with only their wits and, often, allowance money. The layout is hit or miss, but the rules work well and a lot of the art captures 80s retro perfectly. If you want to play an adventure based on a certain streaming show, this is a great option.

For whatever reason, all the things that DON'T land with me in DCC click in MCC. This is a great gonzo fun with an included adventure which had me laughing myself silly from nostalgia vibes. It's well worth the pick up.

A fantastic update to a game which was already incredible. The new art and tweaks to layout are great upgrades.

I grew up loving Thundarr the Barbarian as a kid, Barbarians of the Ruined Earth is about as close as you can get to role playing in that amazing world. The game is based off a roll under mechanic, which uses the actual ability scores as the number to roll under. It's simple to pick up, and character creation is a snap. Characters who have very stats may be the bane of the GM's existence, though. So come prepared to figure out other ways to challenge a character, because just throwing a more powerful monster at a party isn't necessarily going to work.

The artwork is amazing, and the design of the book is inviting. This is one worth buying.
