This was a fun adventure! My players loved it! The way it is laid out makes it very easy to prep and run--every adventure writer should use this format! Took my group about 6 hours from cover to cover. All the extras that come with it make it a huge value. Get it, run it, enjoy it!

The Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse is a fantastic & thoughtfully constructed adventure. Kelsey Dionne from The Arcane Library does a great job of creating engaging scenes with clear goals for the players that are easy for DMs to modify and reskin for their campaigns. I ran this as a mid-tier adventure for a campaign I've been running for several months and it was simple to modify the various encounters to fit the story my party wanted to tell. On top of that, the homebrewed monsters provided in this adventure are well-balanced and possess interesting abilities to diversify any of the combat encounters DMs wish to run. This is a great product with lots of helpful supplementary material to help DMs run this adventure!

This module was a great time for me and my players and was very easy to prep for as a DM. It took my players about two hours though I skipped the pirate fight at the beginning for time constraints and my players bypassed the tower by going in through the cave by flight and flying over the sharks. My players almost died to the water elemental attacking the ship due to them being down to just 3 members which had them on their toes for the rest of the adventure. The fights were fun, the hooks are all great, and it is easy to plug into any campaign.

I'm the DM for a YouTube channel/podcast that plays through one-shots from dmsguild and this was one of our recorded sessions. You can find the video of the full session here: https://youtu.be/8KqPM5Sev2w

I've been a D&D player and DM since Ad&D 2nd edition. I downloaded this title simply to get a feel for how adventures are written nowadays. Wow, I was blown away. Now I'm getting ready to run it with a group of players I put together just for this adventure.

This was a great adventure! My group tends to be somewhat methodical and thorough and really took their time. I beefed up all the mobs to max and scattered in several extras because my guys were a party of six level six characters. I also threw in the optional stormcaller at the end. When they opened those double doors and were greeted with a wall of fog, their trepidation was palpable.

I tied the missing ship into the backstory of the group's cleric. She has a sailor background so the ship was changed to her old ship and the sailor manning the bowl at the end was her captain. It made for a strong story beat for the group as they all had met him in an inn a few weeks before.

Also, I'm not much of a singer but when I RP'd Sheila Coppertree, I wrote a couple of naughty mermaid songs and the group was rolling as she sang them while walking up to them on the docks. We all had a lot of fun with this and it was refreshing having mobs our wizard couldn't kill with one or two well placed lightning bolts. :D

Preparation was easy, story was a breeze to present, and the included maps were perfect for playing on Roll20. It was great having multiple ways to resolve some conflicts and the whole system of "once this point is met move along" was a great method of moving the story along.

Looking forward to checking out more adventures from Kelsey in the future!

The adventure is a thoroughly art-worked or crafted product, and noteworthy already for that alone. The layout is proper enough, interior likewise, text format and font choice just as well. If you have been away from adventure-writing and need a solid example, then this one sure serves well. If you need an adventure 'in between' or to transport your players across the world-map, this may be a good choice just as well!

Structure and roleplaying stats are presented in a minimalism i appreciated. Nothing in the entire work is really lacking, sloppy, or poorly done. Formidable discipline and mindset at work I would call it.

Contextually the story was absolutely not my gusto. Still it was easy to understand, and aiming from a beginning to a middle and a climax. The prose used was not intermixing storytelling with the meta-language (Damage-Dealer, Tank, DPS...) either.

Contrary to my own freestyle writing this adventure is well-structured, with no babbling and no show-off, hence my 'solid' estimation of it.

I give 4 stars due not being fascinated by the story at all, and because I really think one could have made use of more or alternate fantasy species in this adventure.

Goodbye!

Need a good filler quest! Look no further. This was perfect for my adventures that were starting new adventure across and ocean to a new land. Worth every penny.

I really enjoyed running this adventure. It's simple and direct, with a fun confrontation at the beginning and some fun new monsters to fight later on. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good one shot to run between canpaign sessions, a side-quest mid-campaign, or just for a fun afternoon of adventuring. The combat cards were a huge help too and I am excited to use the whole set for other adventures in the future.

I'm looking into publishing some adventures of my own on the DMG, and have been doing some research by browsing what's currently available here.

The quality of this adventure blew me away. It's head and shoulders above the other free adventures I've looked at in both content and presentation. I love the clear synopsis up front, the multiple options for motivation hooks, and the readability that comes from a thoughtful layout and extensive use of BOLD TEXT.

Another excellent one shot quest that has a unique feel to it. would recommend if you need something quick to play. The story and encounters we're very well built, I wasnt expecting this to be as good as it is.

As has already been mentioned repeatedly, the design format is just fantastic; super fun and easy to prep

My group of 8 took about 7 hours to complete this. The larger size probably accounts for the bloat and as they were still relatively new players it was perhaps a bit combat heavy; there was almost a TPK in the final encounter room!

Don't blame this on the design at all; but suggest to other DMs to seriously consider the water elemental as ally option for that last fight.

can't wait for more content from this author!

We had a really great time playing this adventure. It is written in a vaery good way so the DM can make his/her own choices on how to adapt the story for his/her players. It tooks us about 6 hours to complete, and my players loved the 'eel-ish men' (as they named them), even had a hard time trying to survive all the explosions in the tighthouse encounter. It forced them to think twice and not simply rush into combat, so it was a good showcase of teamwork. I specially liked the rewards given at the end, as they can offer a lot of new options for a campaign, even if it's only to hlep the players. Really good adventure, and totally recommend it. Thank you very much for your work!

This adventure was well organized and easy to follow. Each encounter is written on a single page and includes ideas about when to wrap up one event and move onto the next one in the adventure. The bullet-point presentation with bolded key words is exactly the type of thing that makes it easy to follow while running it.

Soooo well organized. I ran this for my group of 6 players and I was blown away with how smooth it was to run and how easily it was dropped into our on-going campaign.
