I was super skeptical. I've tried a few yes/no oracle type books and programs and they were all too hard or too soft. This one is just right! Once you start using it, it doesn't replace your imagination but it controls and feeds it at the same time. Amazing.

So great! No more flipping back and forth (wasn't there an errata on that?? let me find it...) Great, great job that keeps this game alive another few decades.

Stunningly detailed in the maps, the equipment, the personnel and all the d20 stats. A Game Masters dream of information. The pictures jump off the page and give a real 3d look to a 2d space. Worth the price just to scan through the information and use it in your storyline.

I would have given this product 5 stars with no reservations, up until I actually printed it out on card stock at the local Office store...

An unfortunate (imho) decision was made to have a great deal of overlap from page to page. For example, the top deck is 5 pages, one center page surrounded by 4 extending pages which then makes up one deck. However, since the middle page picture overlaps with the 4 outer pages, you have to use an Exacto knife and a very steady hand to cut between the 2 pages and have them line up. Or, you have to just flop the pages over each other, spoiling the effect. I spent a couple hours cutting them up right just for that one deck, the main deck (which is a bit larger) would be not a lot of fun trying to get them all to line up right.

If you don't intend on cutting up the pages, ignore my 3 stars and buy without hesitation! If the background and stats don't interest you and all you want is the color printouts for your mini's, well buy this product anyway (because its so beautiful) but know that when you print it out, your work has only just begun...

Gamescapes: Story Maps, Sci-fi Set 2

Very nice, but my least favorite of the 3 currently (!) available. Certainly fills a need though, the default map ends up very large and is good for a large open area, which the other 2 maps don't provide, so it fits well with them. Great for the end of a running battle trying to escape to the hangar bay and an escape ship, or the place where a large assault might begin.

Not perfect though, because the one thing that is missing is a link to the other maps. There are no corridors off this map so the only way In or Out is through the hangar bays themselves, making this a dead end. One page with a corridor off the back would be very welcome.

My favorite of the 3 available sets. The colors are gorgeous and there are many different rooms and corridors to link together in different ways. Easy to cut out due to most rooms being a variation of square, but the colors and items in the maps, along with the many different corridors you can use make you think it all looks real.

My only.. request.. would be to have a one page explanation of what all the different icons mean. For example, it appears that there are a number of elevators but no idea where they go. There is also one room set off from the rest that appears to be accessible only by 2 elevators and some other elevators that are just... there but don't know where they would go. Of course, they are only supplying a beautiful map, so BYOI (bring your own imagination :) )

Perfect for smaller mini's, the drawn in chairs and equipment look sized right. The colors are fabulous and there are enough different rooms and corridors to make quite a few different bases.
