Another awesome set of figures from these folks, there is a goodly selection nautical folks herein including the archetypal peg and parrot pirate bad ass.

LIKED: The real finishing touch for me was the bif trifolds for cannons, a chest and some ammmo crates.

DISLIKED: Nothing, its all good with the possible exception of leaving you thirsty for more.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
They do a needful job for a game world where the races and monsters are so non standard. Make running the game on a battlematt much easier than using proxy figures

LIKED: it does what it says on the tin and I quite like the triagonal style of flats

DISLIKED: the art is pretty darned unimpressive in comparison to other flats I have, not sure why at the price certain creatures were left and the larger flats are a bit odd, don't really know why but I don't much like them.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Disappointed
Iron Dynasty: Journey to Red Temple
Publisher: Reality Blurs
by Alan B. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/27/2005 00:00:00

This is a cracking tale, I wouldn't say it is going to create any hallmarks in storytelling history but the adventure itself ahould be excellent fun, I really like the art, there are some nice interesting critters and the pre-generated characters are cool all of which provides a tantalising glimpse of what is yet to come from Iron Dynasty.

LIKED: Apart from the stuff mentioned already the 'setting' conventions add some extra flair to really bring out the genre. This has one me over on a setting I was not terribly sure about. And the poster page runepunk at the end has piqued my interest on that setting aswell. Looks like there is bright future ahead for reality blurs if they can keep up this level of quality.

DISLIKED: Nothing major, there were a few small points I sent off to the author more along the lines of little details. I would have liked to have had some figure flats to run the module with is probably my biggest dislike but even that is pretty trivial and the time/cost of getting them done may be prohibitive for a first foray into pdf modules.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
So a while back I ran a horror game for a few sessions, worked up to using the fear tables in savage worlds and they did a job. However it didn't take me long to realise that if I were going to run a long term horror campaign that would get pretty dry and repetitive very quickly. So this was of reat interest to me and it reallly delivers. To be honest it wouldn't take much tinkering to adapt these rules to plug into most any system, they are easy and perhaps more importantly cover a lot options. My congratulations to everyone at 12 to midnight for being the first people to do something like this and do it well. I think it needed doing beingt the first people in and setting the bar so high will do them proud

LIKED: Its easy, yeah there is a lot of table in there but it just isn't an issue.

DISLIKED: The cover image kind of put me off at first, but I've got to say after printing it off it is actually pretty swish. But that would be all.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Okay so I bought this because I wanted an example of how the fear effects (you don't know what fear effects are? oh well you best check out 12 to midnights other products then ; ) ) rules had been put into use. That and someone mentioned it had a little twist of hellboy flavouring in there which piqued my interest further.

I've been holding out on these guys for ages - I kept hearing good things about 12 to midnight stuff and didn't want to get hooked. With this as an example I can see the praise was justified, it is a good modern horror tale that works as a stand alone adventure or as part of some ongoing 'we inesetigate weird stuff' style of campaign. The story is well thought out and should flow quite well - and by that I mean one way or another the players should get to where they are meant to be without missing anything too vital. Perhaps most importantly all the information that is in there is nice and clear which should make it very intuitive to run.

LIKED: Great throughout with a special hats off to the artists involved I think they did a wonderful job of bringing out the feel of the modules.

DISLIKED: I kind of expected there to be some pre generated characters in there even if they were pretty generic just for a real quick start if it was required but its savage worlds so making a handful myself or letting players do the dirty work is easy enough.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I thought this whole computer generated figures thing looked really cool and just happened to have a module where I needed a bunch of little green men so it seemed like the perfect excuse to give them a go. And I really do like both these flats and this way of making flats. Not so sure about some of the other aliens included - I would have been happier with a bigger selection of darcassians but I daresay they will come in handy some day.

For the amount of money involved these are excellent figure flats.

LIKED: Choice of what style of flat to print and make is nice, also the fact that there is advice on the company website, and in included in the later pdf's, on creating your own sheets using their images to build vrtual armies of any given figure or combination of, or just making them bigger and smaller.

DISLIKED: The topped triagonal flying saucer didn't go together so well, I would recommend cutting the top to fit after having folded the sides together to enusre a snug fit.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
The computer generated approach to figure flats works really well, some of the images seem to print off with some dirt or noise around them that isn't there on the screen but that might just be my printer and it just plain isn't going to get noticed unless you are looking at them up close and personal. They look great on the gaming table. This is good quality stuff at very reasonable prices. And the folks that do them seem genuinely very happy to recieve ideas for future sets.

LIKED: Choice of what style of flat to print and make is nice, also the fact that there is advice on the company website, and in included in the later pdf's, on creating your own sheets using their images to build vrtual armies of any given figure or combination of, or just making them bigger and smaller.

DISLIKED: The absolute worst thing about these is being less than rpgnow's minimum order price to not get a surcharge so I was forced to buy more things I wanted ; )

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
The knights are very nice, kind of begs for another set of suitably medievil figures. I'm particularly fond of the magistrate figure.

A bigger pack than normal as you might expect for 'fantasy' lots of very nice figures in here that will do a pretty good job for most fantast games and some might well inspire the odd character conpcept.

Sadly I think a lot of the monsters in here look a bit pap, especially not liking the bright green goblins and the minotaur just doesn't look right to me. The other big figures in the set are however very good indeed - worth buying just for them I'd say.

edit

Yes indeed the publisher has corrected the mentioned items and they look much better now and the set is much improved for it.

edit

The fact that the publisher was excellent about listening to feedback and making changes, what more can you ask for?

Thanks for the comments. It should be noted that i have now updated this set and replaced the "bright green goblins" and re-posed the minotaur. I hope that this revision improves the set.

No. But they will be very handy and they are a heck of lot better than I could do and failing a resident artist type to do individual illustrations for me I really can't complain. It's $2.
