Modern Dispatch (#60): Mecha Critical Cards
Publisher: Ronin Arts

A neat little idea. Drawing from a deck for effects allows more options than just rolling and consulting a table; and as a sinister GM, you can get that delightful "Read it and Weep" moment slapping down the results of a critical hit in front of your unfortunate players.

LIKED: Card backs are a nice addition over the Starship Critical Cards.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Modern Dispatch (#64): Mecha Defects and Quirks
Publisher: Ronin Arts

Another fine mecha product from Ronin Arts, one of the few publishers with a good handle on D20 Future material. Similar to the character flaw options from Unearthed Arcana (which I'm using in my campaign, so it fits in easily enough), the defects and quirks offer a nice way to get extra equipment slots on powersuit-sized Medium and Large mecha, something that is seriously shortchanged in the current rules. If Ronin Arts hasn't done so already in Future Datastream, I'd recommend adapting the idea to starships as well.

LIKED: Easily adaptable with no conversion work.

DISLIKED: Left me wanting more, but that's what these short little dispatches are meant to do, I'd imagine.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Thank you for the very kind words. Starship quirks have appeared in the Datastream and (at least one issue of) the Modern Dispatch. I'm considering writing "13 Starship Defects and Quirks" during December.

Rather good all-around. Apart from adapting a few names to fit my campaign, I can use practically everything in this PDF. Some items like cryo-gauntlets can also easliy be reworked to do electrical damage instead of cold damage with no mathematical heavy lifting to adjust the stats, which a busy GM appreciates.

LIKED: Many useful weapons for a variety of tech levels. Practically no duplication of other third-party D20 Future material.

DISLIKED: Bare-bones visually, but I suppose illustrations and fancy borders only eat up ink when printing anyway, so it's only a minor quibble.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
