Mutants & Masterminds: Archetype Archive 2 is just what it says it is, a collection of ten new archetypes. Archetypes (in the M&M sense) are packages of statistics, skills and powers to simulate various ?standard? sorts of characters from the superheroic genre (or comic books if you prefer that term).
Each of the Archetypes comes with a strong full color illustration that conveys the sense of the Archetype?s abilities and style (although the agent and elastic hero?s illustrations are a bit lackluster). Each character is fully presented for a standard Power Level 10 / 150 Character Points campaigns.
Among the character types explored in this archive are: the Agent, the entirely non-powered but entirely dangerous and super-competent professional. Animal Powers, those who embody an animal be it a totem spirit, genetic manipulation or whatever (with six sub-variants: arachnid, bird, cat, crustacean, insect and reptile). Jungle Lord, swinging from tree to tree (or building to building) with his faithful animal companion. Living Weapon, they are the best at what they do.
Like the first Archetype Archive, this is a useful tool for both players and Games Masters. Players get examples of what sorts of characters can be constructed and how to simulate various types of characters. Games Masters get a pool of pre-generated character statistics to draw on. The only thing lacking is short description of the archetypes with an example characters for each a hero and villain version to allow them to be instantly dropped into a game.
A good addition to the available resources for Mutants & Masterminds.
