Gatetown Encounters #3 - Excelsior

The actual adventure is OK. Is it a little lazy in places -- for example, it tells you about the victims but doesn't name them. Not a huge deal, but definitely not polished enough to run out of the box.

It lacks a map. In an age of VTTs, an adventure without a map is basically half an adventure.Parts of it kind of depend on the map, so I think it's a significan shortfall, but as always, your mileage may vary.

I gave in 4 stars because the adventure idea is usable, but as a ready-to-run adventure, I'd probably rate it 3 stars.

Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to write a review. I wrote these as encounters rather than adventurers and encounters in my mind kind of are half an adventure... A solid structure that you could build an adventure on. I aimed to get as close to one page as I could with these, hard to get a whole adventure and a map into that package. This is the one with the Filcher right? I really liked that little guy! This is one of the longer ones... Again I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your time, have fun with the Filcher, he's a mischievous lil tyke!

Fun to run, with a different twist. DMS Guild thinks this review needs to be longer, but I don't want to give the twist away.

The product gives you what it claims to, I guess, but once you open it up in the Magic Set Editor there is still a lot of work involved in creating a set of power cards -- personally, I don't think it is worth it. Would rather just print out the character sheets from DDI or whatever.
