There are other products out there that do the same job, but none of them do it as well. These battlemaps are simply beautiful. The lighting effects are incredible. The attention to detail is just not present in other product lines.<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: Each room, save one, can be printed onto a single page. There's no cutting, scoring, gluing, or whatever. I can print the map and then use it immediately.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: The maps are beautiful but also very specific. Sometimes elements shown conflict with the room description, so I'm left using another product. There's really no way around this, though, as you're either going to use a detailed map like these or use something more generic.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

A particular delight if you use miniatures in your games, but even if you do not this set of 'room plans' will inspire ideas and make describing locations a treat!

For each room, there are 3 maps - a lush full-colour one, a greyscale version and a line drawing - each designed to print to the correct scale for miniatures use (and with a 5' square grid cunningly melded into the design).

The rooms provided are: -

  • Ruined Pool
  • Conjurer's study and workroom, complete with hexagram on the floor
  • Stairway/hallway
  • 'Bridge Room' - a rope and plank bridge across a water-filled room
  • Altar of the Spider God - big 2-page spread
  • Jail... including one cell with a hole in the wall where the prisoner burrowed out!
  • Guard Room
  • Magical Well
  • Forge

All the maps are very atmospheric and filled with lots of little details. Just looking at them starts spawning ideas about what could be going on there and how they could be woven into an adventure, or if you need a specific type of room you can select the one you want. To be even more useful, there's a checklist at the end showing where every floorplan so far published by 01 Games can be found.

A well-presented accessory, of particular use for those who use miniatures for movement and combat, but not to be disregarded by those who don't!

High quality floor plans - with the rest of battlemaps collections is very flexible for just about any dungeon/castle setting. Suggest be printed on fast draft settings to minimize ink used - quality is still high. Very worthwhile at price

As usual with the battlemaps series, the artwork is fantastic, but you receive a smaller number of rooms, and the detail is such that your players will remember them if you use them more than once.

The rendering is top notch. The rooms are very cool and inspirational for a frazled DM who does not have as much time to design encounters as he might wish.

It would have been nice if there was a bit less dark color in these, as that burns through a lot of ink. Anywhere that is not "room" should just be left white.

As another reviewer mentioned, it would be nice to have some options for doors so that you can better match the doors between rooms or between rooms and corridors. How about some extra doors you can print out and then literally cut and paste in place to allow door changing?

I like the concept. The art is good. But I would have prefered a more "universal" approach where the rooms are made to tie into the other "Battlemaps" products in almost any way you wish to assemble them.

That's the way I'm going to use the product anyway, but it would be nice if the art meshed a little better. As it is, I'll end up with double doors on one end and a single on the other or a wooden door on one side and "prison bars" on the other. It works, but it's not as clean as it could be.

Over all, it's a good product and I'm glad I purchased it. Perhaps a bit overpriced if it's intended to be a one-shot, single configuration dungeon map, but it's worth it to me, as I intend to use it to revive the joy of the "dungeon crawl" in my campaign, laying out the tiles as appropriate to represent many different dungeons.

Also, the product is most useful if you've got a color laserjet at your disposal. Don't plan to use an inkjet; This will chew through your cartridges fast. If you've only got a B&W laser, the product has monochrome versions of the images as well - but, of course, they're not quite as nice.

I have all three 'Bettlemaps' sets and will be getting the Goblin's Lair set as soon as financially possible - these are amongst the best 'floorplans' I've ever seen, the graphics and lighting effects are awesome. Perhaps somewhat limited in their use by their specialist nature, this specialisation also allows levels of detail not previously seen on this kind of product. I hope that someday 0one will try something more mundane like a 'typical dungeon room' set with various more regular style rooms, I would like to think a market exists - the tie-in potential with the floorplans released so far would be awesome.

Print out beautifully and are useful especially for that big final scene or areas visited again and again
