So often it seems that Heroic Maps comes up with exactly what I need for my game. I have to run a few games over at a friends house and was wondering what dungeon tiles to take along that I could get maximum use out of, with minimal numbers of tiles I would have to take with me, along with rule books, dice and miniatures, my dungeon masters 'load out'. A set of geomorphic dungeon tiles is perfect for the travelling DM, as they can be used over and over again, in any number of combinations, and this set has a design that is both aesthetically engaging, and packed full of strategic possibilities.
With the combination of larger chambers, winding corridors and multiple routes that can be taken, it is an easy matter to set up wandering monster encounters, ambushes, rotating dungeon section puzzles, and, with the addition of stairwells, multi-level dungeon crawls that can blend seamlessly into any of the other dungeon sets (such as the abandoned Dwarven mine, or modular ancient dungeon set, with just a few more tiles included in the DM's travelling back pack).
The level of detail, colour pallet and scale is a perfect match for the average gaming miniature, and the design makes for an excellent crafting challenge, for those who want to enhance the 3D aspect by mounting the walls on cardboard or foam core cutouts, for a 2.5D representative feel.
