I thought that this would be different than what it actually is. The rules that it contains are good, but I was hoping for some more meat - rules for trading and commerce, monopolies, etc.

LIKED: Solid layout and good fluff.

DISLIKED: Most of the crunch is feats, spells and prestige classes. I'd like rules for trading and commerce, influence on the community, etc.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
'E.N. Guilds - Merchant Guild' is an excellent way to add depth and variety to your campaign. There is some useful and workable information on how the guild runs, plus a couple of related Prestige Classes and feats. The Prestige Classes are interesting, but I personally didn't find the feats overly useful. Also, the new array of Knowledge skills seem unnecessary and I'm sure the more generic Knowledge (nature) or Knowledge (architecture and engineering) will do, instead of Knowledge (clay) or Knowledge (carving tools), for example. Some people may like this extra layer of detail, however. There is also a very useful section detailing various NPCs that can be quicly dropped into a game.

Overall, this is a nice product, well laid out with good artwork and filled with useful and interesting ideas. I'll certainly be using it in my future games.

LIKED: Details on implementing guilds in game play is probably the most useful section for me and I also liked the slightly unusual Prestige Classes. The section on NPCs will also find some use in my game.

DISLIKED: The array of very specific Knowledge skills is not something I'll be adopting .

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
This product gives a very good basic overview of guilds and their services.

But, for me, it is a little too basic. The product focuses on the usual d20 crunchy-bits: new feats, skills, etc. I don't play d20 so about 1/3 of the book was useless to me. I'd much rather have more "non-mechanical" substance... real practical info.

This book was good, but it wasn't the best that I've seen on the subject. It is abbreviated and that may appeal to some.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
