This booklet is clearly aimed at beginning fantasy writers and amateur cartographers, but it still has several tips and tricks for making your maps look more authentic, regardless of skill level.

I discovered that I had been drawing my rivers incorrectly (or at least unrealistically) even though I’m a veteran fantasy illustrator. This booklet covers how rivers actually behave in relation to their environment. I also found the terraforming chapter useful in that it described how plate tectonics can effect mountain formation and weather patterns.

The real value of the text is that it helps you determine the true scope of your map project before you even start sketching. What is a reasonable scale for your continents and nations? How far could people travel on foot or by cart in the middle ages? This booklet will get you thinking about how to make your maps more convincing, without overwhelming you with too much technical detail in the process.

It’s definitely a handy resource for any fantasy mapping project, whether for fiction or gaming!

For years I've been searching for a table-top RPG rule set with a very shallow learning curve which also eliminates a lot of my pet peeves concerning traditional d20 systems (complex inventory management, outlandish magic item economies, loot grinding, etc.) I think Open Legend may finally be the RPG game I've been searching for! No more class restrictions! No more endless spell lists!

The character creation mechanic for Open Legend is a delightfully painless exercise that even novice players can master in a matter of minutes. The Bane / Boon character trait mechanic allows for a magic system which treats spells more like superpowers that are only limited by the player's imagination and the luck of the dice roll.

Speaking of dice rolls, Open Legend's "exploding" dice mechanic brings an additional layer of fun to rolling dice. Each max die rolled "explodes" by allowing the die to be re-rolled and added to the final tally. Players will learn celebrate each and every max die rolled, not just the elusive Natural 20.

This introductory adventure module walks you through how to play and game-master Open Legend. A steal at any price!
