An interesting enough conversion from its original proprietary rules system; however, it says it's OGL compatible and it mentions the PHB, yet it contains neither the d20 logo or the OGL as required by the WotC licenses. So what is it? Is it OGL or d20, and if so, why is it not in compliance with either license?

LIKED: Simple and easy to get started. Solid background. Juicy ceature stats.

DISLIKED: Doesn't seem to comply with either the OGL or the d20 licenses.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
A must-have for anyone interested in entering the e-publishing arena. Good solid advice and pointers. Be forewarned though - if you're a publisher, you get this book (as well as the other two in the series) for free when you pay your RPGNow vendor set-up fee.

LIKED: Straightforward advice. A must-have for anyone considering entering the e-publishing arena. If you plan on setting up a vendor account with RPGNow pass on it though as you'll get the entire series for free when you pay your $40 to set up a RPGNow vendor account.

LIKED: Everything! Typical generic RPG rules - nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary. A solid ruleset; however, there are better options out there IMHO.

LIKED: Simple and easy to use.

DISLIKED: Typical generic ruleset.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Definitely easier for a beginner to comprehend than the SRD or the D&D Core Rules; however, it could have been pared down and cleaned up even more. Using this as a base will certainly save a lot of time doing my own "Basic D20 Fantasy" game though!

Great idea. Great price. Perfect for the GM suffering from "adventure block". The layout is clean and concise. The "twists" are a neat idea that let you vary the various plots. It's nice to see a generic product that doesn't buy into the D20 Fad. I might not ever use these seeds, but it's nice to know they're there if I need them! I'm looking forward to the release of '45 (mentioned in the Coming Soon section of this product)!

Great adventure - even if it is typical "end of the world" type stuff. I was able to grab a few crunchy bits for my Redline game. Well-written. Easy to GM. Great idea including the figure flats and maps.

Well-wriiten and easy to follow even if it is rather typical. If you're new to Savage Worlds or are trying to recruit new players "into the fold", then this is a good adventure to use. The best thing about it is that it includes tabletop maps and paper models to make handling combat all that much easier.

Beats drawing them yourself! Well drawn, but typical figures. A decent investment if you need this kind of thing.

Not impressed. Very amateur production and poor layout design. Interesting premise, but I'd have been better off simply using Pinnacle's "Weird War" books as source material.

As always we appreciate everyone's comments. I'm sorry you feel that the product is "amateurish," and if you would care to forward additional comments as to how the product could be improved, I would be happy to listen to them. I'm always looking to make our games even better.
However, I would like to point out that HNA is approximately 1/4 the size that Pinnacle Entertainment Group
was when the initially produced Weird Wars...two years after War Machine hit the shelves. While we just started using RPGNow, HNA has been in business for over 6 years.
We must be doing something right :)
Thanks for your comments, keep'em coming!

Excellent adventure - great for playing or skimming for ideas for your own horror setting. As with most Savage Worlds products (outside the core rulebook), this product is useful for all the good crunchy bits it provides. Excellent example of "horror done right" under Savage Worlds.

Like the core rules this product is excellent. Highly recommended to any GM planning to run The Whispering Vault or to anyone interested in a unique perspective on the horror genre.
