This is indeed a great one-shot for a night when everyone can't make it. The execution of the plot keeps the players on their toes (and forces them to think their way out). But as previously noted, this is a one-shot that has almost no value if the DM is attempting to drop in an existing campaign. Knowing this bit-o-information up front should allow everyone to enjoy this adventure.

I won't rehash the concerns raised in the other reviews. A nice 'bare-bones' locale that can be populated with monsters with little effort.

LIKED: A previous reviewer touched on this, but, I really liked that the setup for this location is caused by a planar rift.

DISLIKED: A few more rooms to the dungeon/crypt would have been nice.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Overall this is a very sound product that gives GMs easy access to bits of narrative to spice up any cavern or dungeon. The narrative is written in such a manner that the descriptions could be easily incorporated into any setting.

LIKED: The entries are divided into logical groups (Shards and Bits). For example the Caverns pdf has shards for Entrances, Ascents and Decents, plus Other Settings. Additional bits include Formations and Other Features.

DISLIKED: Neither pdf in the bundled 'Bits of Darkness' support the native cut/paste fucntionality of Adobe Reader. One reason I am such an avid supporter of PDF's is this ability to cut/paste blocks of text from a pdf into my campaign editor. I consider this flaw to be significant, and ultimately, I scored the product a 4/5 because of this problem.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
We have heard the complaints of the people, and finally the problem is corrected! In our new, revised version of this product (released 10-24-05) cut and paste is enabled. (It was never our intention to prevent it, but seems to have been some sort of software glitch.) To further enhance the product we added bookmarks, plus a new cover made specifically for our "Bits of Darkness" series.
Anyone who purchased this product is eligible to receive a free update to the revised version. If your mailing settings allow: "Accept mail about products you bought (Updates)?" then you should have received a notice about the revision. Otherwise, you can check your account history and you should find an opportunity for one more download of this product.
If you purchased this product with the new cover, then you already have the revisions! We hope these changes will increase the satisfaction of all our customers with these products.

OUTSTANDING! I dropped this on my party as part of a Halloween-themed session, and they had a blast battling the Lantern Cap I threw at them.

LIKED: Everything, especially the unique-themed monsters and spells. And I personally enjoyed the art, particularly the cover. Very much 'in character' .

DISLIKED: No complaints here.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I have to admit, this was a pleasant suprise considering the cost. I was not sure what I was going to get, but this pdf definitely has bang for the buck.
The pdf covers nearly every aspect of this dwarven horde; From Habitat, History, Culture and Tactics, to Pasttimes and Relations with Other Tribes.

LIKED: There was an abundance of well thought-out fluff and just enough crunch (the Prestige Class Warrior Smith, and a wicked-cool magic item) to make this pdf very useful for GMs looking for a niche in the Dwarven Kingdoms.

DISLIKED: only a minor gripe...the text states that the males of the Thunderfist Horde completely shave their heads, including beards. However, the pics for the 2 NPCs detailed in the pdf have full heads of hair and traditional braided beards. Like I said, just a minor gripe.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I'm a huge lurking fan of Philip Reed and this PDF delivers as intended. These fogs, molds, slimes, and fungi should throw a twist at even the most experienced party.

LIKED: As expected, this pdf continues the 'Dozen...' series with concise text that gives adequate descriptions for each entry. Nothing world-altering, but innovative none the less.

DISLIKED: Not a dislike but more of a warning for prospective buyers. This pdf covers the niche of molds, slimes and fungi. There are also a few fogs detailed, but that is the extent of this pdf. Perhaps a subtitle that explictly indicates this would be helpful.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
