Awesome rules that are fairly simple to follow and any toy you have can be used! Totally worth the price.

I was really impressed with this rule book. It's a great introduction into the world of role play games. Can't go wrong for the price.

Have kids? Do they love to play with anything from stuffed animals to toy robots or action figures? Do want to introduce them to the world of RPGs? Well then this might just be the perfect game. Well, not perfect, but really, really, really good. Toy War takes so very simple rules (and also teaches kids how to use a ruler) to bring their favorite toys to life. Each toy has a purpose and something it does well. In one session we brought in a baby harp seal (was cute), a toy Dalek (can shoot), a space ship and some D&D dragons. We came up with this idea to rescue some fish and we were off. The adventure is fast and fun. In the end we saved the fish, only to have them eaten by the baby seal. Depending on your kids this could be a game of structured make believe or even an on-going saga. Or it can be a great diversion for a rain or snowy afternoon. Worth every penny and then some.

It's Ok if you are playing with a group of 3 to 5 year olds. Dont try it with 6 and up (my son got bored and wanted to go play Risk!) Other than that, if you want to play with your toys roll a die 6 and 4 or better hits! There you go!

LIKED: Nothing really. It was just OK and thats all. Nothing spectacular. The size rules were kinda useful.

DISLIKED: It's insistance on keeping the 3 to 6 year olds happy. I was not looking to pull any old toy from the toy box out and use it. I was looking more for the Toy Soldiers to use.

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed
This one's cute: rules for miniatures wargaming using the kinds of toys you'd generally find in a standard toybox. While you can use action figures, the rules are more geared to generic type toys like trains and "100 for a dollar" bagged army men.

The basic rules are simple, without giving much of a nod to balance -- you'll have to use some optional rules if you want things like accurate line-of-sight and sensible point costs. For what they're intended to do, though, they're serviceable, and you can learn them quickly.

This game seems to be intended more as an introduction to wargaming for children (probably 9 and 10 year olds) than as a game for adults. While it's fun, there's not much room for growth. Team Frog makes another game, Critter Commandos, that is similarly kid-friendly but has much more meat (err.. polystyrene) to it.
