An invaluable book for those seeking to break into e-publishing. The strength of the book is that it covers everything. The weakness of the book is that it has too many authors, and occassional contradicting opinions. I go back to it frequently. Maybe a little over-priced...

An excellent resource! I thought I was pretty business-savvy, but I learned a lot. If you want to sell a game here, buy this book!

A great guide, it answered a lot of questions I have been muddling through for a long time! A little biased towards rpgnow, but you were expecting?

Highly recommended

Best money I've spent at RPGNow yet! Loaded with good info and tons of links for additional help. The sample templates and cost spreadsheet only made a great product better! If you have any thoughts of becoming an e-publisher then you'd be foolish not to read this first.

Creator Reply:
A very silly review and a blatant 'vested interest' deferral to an alternate product. If you are going to market your own items or your friends items please do so using the correct channels and not in reviews. For what it's worth, and for the information of readers who might think this review is truthful, let me address your complaints: 1) The product is part of a larger image library, 17 folders in all. It is, therefore, already a part of a greater catalogue. Categorising some 100 images when there will already be 17 categories is unecessary. 2) What is wrong with saving lineart as RGB jpgs? Other formats would have made this product (already 30meg) too big for download. 3) Image sizes vary between 150 and 200dpi. I don't know where you got 72dpi from. Presumably off the top of your head. Why you would want a 600dpi image is beyond me anyway. Surely you are publishing to pdf, not onto the side of an aircraft hangar? 4) Duplicates, and there are only a handful in more than 100 images, are provided for publishers who lack Photoshop expertise and would like alternate styles. Even with the small number of duplicates (if you consider this detrimental) more than 100 original works of license free art for under $5 is still extraordinary value for money.

This guide was helpful to us as we have released 2 products now. It gives some insight into the business and it's many avenues. The links section in the back is very helpful to find useful help. The charts are nice but we wonder if these are skewed by WoTC sales. The guide is a good start but a follow-up would be helpful with more detail in the advertising section as well as sales and quality control.

This is a quick and informal first impression of the ePublisher Guide. I've had a chance to look through my copy and I must say I'm very pleased. There is much more information than I was expecting...including planning, legal, marketing info, and much more.

Not only is there supplemental information, but there is lots of pure business crunchy stuff (nice looking charts, graphs, etc.)

In my opinion, this product offers plenty of bang for the buck, especially if you are intent on publishing yourself.
