I have been hesitant to buy older, pre-digital books, concerned that the scan quality might be poor or that the original poster maps might be missing.

I am happy to say that the Ravenloft: Realm of Terror set does not suffer from these problems.

The scans of the book are clean, and while not the level of a product made today on a computer, the text is bery legible and selectable.

The pages are straight, not crooked. The gutter in the center is narrow, presumably to "flatten" the page but this is only a smal detraction.

The original maps are scanned full-size and not in sections. They are colorful, flat, and the original fold-lines are not too visible.

As you might expect, the cardstock cards that came with the original set are excellent scans; flat, colorful, and complete.

Overall I am really pleased with this purchase. The price of $7.99 is an excellent value. I only wish other 2nd edition box sets were priced similarly.

Overpriced and underwhelming!

This new edition of Traveller from Mongoose is great, gut thier referee screen disappoints. Too little substance for too much money. The product description says the document is 13 pages.

Here's a breakdown of the 13 pages:

Page 1: The cover - It has a table of contents (yes for 13 pages) Pagse 2-5 Reference sheets from the new core rules Pages 6-9: B/W art of the 4-panels Pages 10-13 Color art of the 4-panels

I guess I misunderstood that 13 pages would be in addition to the screen art. I also wasnt expecting to get the screen art twice. The art is cool I'll give them that. But I was hoping for AT LEAST 13 pages of charts and tables from the core rules! Not 8-pages of the screen art.

I can't imagine paying $20 for the printed version anf the "discounted" pdf for $11.99 is not worth it either. Maybe $3.99.

Essentially a one-page PDF showing the Spinward Marches sector. Nothing new or noteworthy here. Same format and style we have seen since the Spinward Marches Map in 1980.

Here's how this would have earned four or five stars with me:

8-12 pages of additional info. Maybe not planetary data but an analysis of the sector, adventure hooks, Library Data, SOMETHING to flesh it out a little.

It is formatted as an 8.5x11" sheet not the original poster size. that means I can't print it across multiple pages to retain the size of the original and maintain resolution

Not that I'd print it anyway! It's all black with white hexes. As a PDF it would be nice, even essential, to reverse the colors so that I could print this without using $40 in toner!

Layers; none. there would be an added utility if I could turn on/off layers such as starport data, amber zones, etc. so that I might add a "fog of war" to challenge the players.

All-in-all, you get a one-page utilitarian sector map with no interactivity. It has some use if used with the Spinward Marches sourcebook, but there are better mapping tools out there that are free and allow for much more flexibility.
