One of the cooler products from the late 2E era, and very useful for planar campaigns (or any campaign involving devils). Unfortunately, the scan is adequate at best, which is why I can only give it four stars...

Another great old TSR source book that I love having in pdf. The scan is less than perfect but the material is really very good. The art is good quality. It's well worth 5 USD.

This guide will allows Dungeon Masters an intimate review of the Lords of Hell and offers up new spells and class kits plus much more. A good buy for those that dare say go to hell.

LIKED: It has information on creating half devil characters and information(updated from 1st edition) of the Lords of hell that I have not seen anywhere else.

DISLIKED: I have seen information elsewhere about half demon characters and thought it may be in here as well but it must have been from a later book.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Very good description of Baator and even reveals the dark of the formation of the outer planes.

I like the kits presented within, too.

It all reminds me of the Diablo computer games. Same kind of feel to the product.

LIKED: Gives all the detail I ever wanted for Baator. It even has information that Planes of Chaos didn't! The two complement each other well.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Name the adventurer who has survived their career without uttering the phrase "Go to Hell"? Go ahead, I dare you. Have you ever thought of the implications of such a phrase? Next time you hear this phrase spoken in your game, be prepared, because with this tome, you can!

Demons are powerful, rare, and deceptive, this is well known. But just how deceptive are they? This book is a twisted supplement to add some dark, bloody flavor to your game. After all, dealing with the forces of hell is a pretty good-sized undertaking for both players and DM's, and it's something you want to do right.

It's worth a read, and the material is par excellence. After reading the plans of Azmodeus, one is sure to be inspired for adventures. Pesky heroes loaded with too many magical items? It just makes them much better targets for the Pit Fiend generals to look for.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
This book is okay. The main reason I got it was for the description of the Nine Hells themselves and the devils and devil-lords, so I didn't pay that much attention to the new PC kits or the spells even, so I won't comment on those. What I will say is that the book is short, only 66 pages. One serious problem I have with it is that, from what I can tell, pretty much all the information in it on the geography and places in Hell are lifted from the Planes of Law boxed set, so if you've already read that (like I had), a decent chunk of this book becomes redundant to you. It does include a complete list of the current Lords of the Nine, including 2nd addition attributes and HP for if you actually want your players to have a shot at killing them. Some of the Lords of the Nine are new as well, and it explains where they come from and what happened to the old 1e Lord. There's also a somewhat controversial explanation in the beginning about who Admodeus really is.

Overall, I would say that for info on the Plane itself, as well as its denizens, you'd be better off getting the Planescape books Planes of Law and Faces of Evil: The Fiends. If you really want info on the Lords of the Nine though, then this has more info on them than the old Monster Manual 1 & 2, and is cheaper than the Book of Vile Darkness.
