I keep a printout of this in my binder, as it's used basically every game. Whenever a player wants to buy something, all I need consider is the wealth of the city to determine if it's available and for how much. This has allowed my players to try and make money as traders, which works really well in a "West Marches" game where the players drive the story.

This supplement presumes you're not familiar or that you're of a singular mind when it comes to D&D. It's an aggressive and in your face document and while that's fine, it isn't very professional. It's full of advice that might work for their Dungeon Land game, but in general I would consider the advice to be bad.
For example: "Should I pregenerate the dungeon or roll at the table" comes with the response "roll at the table, pregenerating isn't as fun". But that sort of prep work (to a limit) always makes the game easier on the DM.
HOWEVER
This is all from a generic standpoint. Their "Dungeon World" setting/game seems to provide situations, items, characters, and events that are designed to turn D&D on it's head. So if you're running/reading Dungeon Land, then this IS the supplement you want. Otherwise, it isn't generic advice that everyone should take.

It's what it says on the tin, a bunch of tavern and inn names. I like products that are what they advertise themselves to be.

Not bad, but there are supplements for doing this sort of thing here on the Guild that I prefer greatly. Still if you're looking for something simple, this might be a better supplement for you.

It doesn't waste ink when printing, it doesn't try to cram every bit from the official sheets onto one page and it's very readable. A good character sheet.

There's a reason you see the art in this pack appear so often in other content on the guild: because all the artwork is excellent. It's very difficult to find even a few good color images for our content and yet here's a pack with a whole mess of high quality full color artwork! Thank you for this great content!

A large number of illustrations, all of them at resolutions high enough to use in your DMG content, although not all of them are general enough for everyone to find use for.

Wanting to include 300 surges certainly makes wild magic more wild... but there's a lot on here that ended up being something that either slowed my games down or was only cosmetic. It's not the worst surge table I've ever seen, but it didn't help my game much.

Cards for the story rewards that follow completing adventurer's league games. My only complaint? It only covers a handful, there are so many more adventures that came after this was released but it was never updated.

Hi Bryan, thanks for your review!
If you search for FreshRad Games you'll find all the other story award cards I have made. I've debated whether to bundle them together but I haven't made any for the upper tier modules, so I decided against it.
If there is interest I am happy to do it.
I'm happy you enjoyed the cards. Have an awesome day! |

Talk about getting the best bang for your buck: As a DM, having 5 adventures, 5 one shots, 10 puzzles and 100 monsters at my fingertips is useful. Considering I can drop any of the content from this supplement into my campaign at any point and feel like they'll fit, that's excellent. Having read through the content, it all seems quite balanced and all things considered is a great value.

If you only pay for one item in all the Dungeon Master's Guild, make it this one. It's like the Stronghold Builders guide from 3rd, but it's good. It's well balanced, excellently formatted, full of beautiful artwork and is written in a way that feels like it can be inserted into your Dungeon Master's Guide and feel like it belongs there. In my opinion, the best 5th edition supplement to date.

An expansion for what I consider to be the best homebrew supplement in D&D? YES PLEASE!
Adding traders and merchants to the stronghold guide allows players to really start making money. If you're running a "West Marches" style game, I'd consider these to be essential books.

An ok selection of races but the balance between them and the PHB races aren't quite there. Could use another pass to become excellent.

It's an excellent supplement and provides many backgrounds which all fit neatly into any campaign but I can't shake the feeling the supplement would be better with more editing. For example, "S/R/W one lanugage" is shorthand, I understand, but that's not how the official books are written. Great book, needs polishing.

You are quite correct sir!
I definitely have a thing or two to refine with this product (it was the first I published) and someday I hope to. That admitted, I am happy you find it useful, as I have gotten a lot of use out of it in my campaigns and I hope everyone else does too!. |

Expands on an already solid section of the DMG. Having more randomized options is great when looking for inspiration.
