For anyone looking to run classic pre-3e era D&D, this is easily the single best rulebook you could get. It's full of everything you would get from a PHB, MM and DMG, in a single book, and the rules are very extensively written, covering a lot of different situations and scenarios, from dungeon crawling, to wilderness adventuring, to stronghold construction, to mass-scale war. If you can overlook the few Basic quirks, like class and race being conflated, then you really can't go wrong with this as your system of choice. It will let you run pretty much any Basic or AD&D module too - you can even overlook the conversion rules at the end, in my experience there is no conversion necessary, as any power imbalances are marginal enough to not cause any significant issues. A party of Basic PCs from these rules can go through an AD&D module just fine, as-written.
As for the quality of the POD - For how cheap it is, the quality is perfectly acceptable. You can tell that it's not as crisp and sharp as it would be if you were looking at an original print, there's a very slight blur to everything, but not to the level of being distracting, or to interfere with readability. I'm somewhat concerned about the hardback spine, as I'm not fully confident it will survive extensive use of the book, but that's just a suspicion on my part - only time will tell. Overall, I'm very pleased with what I got!
