Long module...definitly a charecter killer. Copy is just a promised great shape (with all original typos). Involves to sepret adventures loosly tied to each other. The first in a triology for that takes players from level on to (death) i mean level 18 (see scourage of the slave lords).

Module is largly hack and slash with minor elements of mystery. If played straight chareceter sheets will go in the garbage can.

LIKED: Some good direct cause and effect stuff. tons of treasure (dont be compeled to hint about it to players...there is more than enough if they miss some.

DISLIKED: Modules are not tightly tied to each other. Not enough plot development (DM will have to do some creative sculpting to make it really intresting)

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Very Satisfied
A truly fantastic introduction to AD+D. I never played this back in the 80s but it is fantastic to start my children in the gerne.

LIKED: Starting in a town with many real charachters but the possibility of sinister developments. a good, not over stocked with treasure intro dungeon with a nearby base to make several attempts (and awaken the sinister developments mentioned)

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Satisfied
First of all the front cover scan is a mess...oh dear I think. But, inside things are not as bad. The text is not blurred and soft (unlike queen of spiders). The Module is a classic old skool dnd affair and is a superb campaign linking to Scourge of the slave lords (a1-4) and the queen of spiders follow on (g1-3, d1-3, q1), well with a bit of work it is anyway. I owned the original green Village of hommlet, but t2 never appeared instead this did. I finally have got my mitts on it and cant wait to wade thru all the modules again.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
This is basically a classic dungeon crawl scenario. There are two towns that you get involved with at the beginning, which gives some opportunity for roleplaying, but for the rest your players/characters will be roaming the Temple, finding treasure and killing monsters, including even possible encounters with the demon prince(ss) Zuggtmoy, the demi-god Iuz, and St. Cuthbert. It is also designed to take the players from low levels to high levels.

If dungeon crawls aren't you're thing, this could probably be avoided. But as a dungeon crawl, I think that it is very well done and looks quite challenging and enjoyable. It's classic D&D at its finest.

A great dungeon crawl adventure, definitely one of the best ever. For an adventure in that genre, it also contains ample opportunities for character interaction. That said, don't buy this if you're not interested in spending the next year or so in meandering mazes, mainly ambushing monsters and taking their stuff.

If you haven't played this, and you feel like doing some epic hack 'n slash adventuring, I can't see any reason not to get it!

This is an excellent scan. Images are crisp and the text is properly OCR'd.

The Temple of Elemental Evil is THE classic dungeon bash. Much emulated, never equaled, this campaign exemplifies the qualities Gygax sought to developfor AD&D. Forget the Sunless Sea, Tale of the Comet and the other would be 'mega' campaigns. Download Temple of Elemental Evil, convert it to d20 or your prefered system and delve once more into the horrors below.

As an added bonus, this is probably the best (that I've so far seen) of the TSR downloads when it comes to quality of PDF. Clean scans, relaid out and easily printed. If only all these products were so professionally produced for the web.

Lastly, Temple of Elemental Evil was the first in a series of campaigns, namely Scourge of the Slavelords and Queen of the Spiders. Combine the three and buy Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil and you've got years of D&D goodness to occupy even the most discerning adventurer.

Highly reccomended!
