Ah, the old staple from my 'bluebox' D&D days.
Even then, we wondered just what the heck a "dungeon" was if it was designed this way. But, that's true of most all dungeons, not just this product.
It works. I think all DM's should still have this cut-up and tucked away in the back of the old bag of tricks, just in case the players blow-out your prepared adventure or your prefab module. This, along with the standard encounter key and some common sense, will allow to say one jump ahead of the players, and pull a reasonably fulfilling adventure straight out of his hat.
