I enjoyed both my time reading the Maelstrom setting world book, as well as printing out & assembling the great map that's provided (in black and white). The map went to games and hung on my wall for two years during the campaign.

The setting is innovative. Instead of just making another world of orcs and elves and dwarves etc in a different landscape, the team created world where the landscape can change at any time just by one of the mysterious fog-cloud like things that exist... when they move the terrain under them is destroyed, when they move on the terrain is totally different from what was there. Before Eberron and 'The Mournland' we had Maelstrom.

If you are looking for a fantasy campaign world that is rich, well thought out, and is original... Get Maelstrom that's all I can say.

I've been playing frpg for almost 20 years now and I've never seen a campaign setting done this well. It contains a wealth of very good and fun information but it doesn't give so much that the GM has nothing left to devlope himself. In addition, the book contains answers to questions most other campaigns don't bother to cover (like population breakdowns, currency pictures and exchange rates). The great thing about this information is that you have it if you need it but it's not required reading or long-winded.

On another note, if you buy this product you owe it to yourself to contact the author and ask him to send you the back issues of his e-mail updates (Unleash the Magic which you can sign up for on the Darkfuries website). I got mine quickly and, in addition, Mr. Moseley has been very helpful in answering my (far too) many questions.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

While I don't need a campaign setting for myself, I enjoy reading other peoples work. Maelstom is a good written book. I've bought quite a few of their other products as well and haven't been disappointed yet.

This product is a disappointment, as a campaign setting it has virtually no ideas in it. I found the product dry and uninspiring to read, for instance I'm really not interested in the breakdown of the population of every major city, and it won't add anything to the games I play. Campaign settings should inspire me with ideas and give me a vision of a world, not just numbers, numbers, numbers. The sheer amount of mind-numbing repetitive work that the author put into this is truly astounding.

I am very pleased to have purchased the Darkfuries (Brian Moseley) Maelstrom Fantasy Campaign Setting: Worldbook, Maelstrom Campaign Setting: Pantheon, and Visira: City of Sorrows. Obviously Mr. Moseley has placed quite a great deal of dedication and effort into these products due to the great detail and supporting information for the Maelstrom Fantasy Campaign Setting. So much so, that I am using these products for the basis and foundation of running and games mastering my campaign. The maps, write-ups of the regions and cities and the whole geography of the world is astonishing - the best that I have come across in 15 years of gaming. The history of the world is so imaginative and comprehensive, it opens any campaign to endless possibilities.

I look forward to more of the same quality products.

I, and others would encourage and hope to see Brian Moseley (Darkfuries) create a city system product for the great city of Calthayes, following the success of Visira: City of Sorrows.

This PDF is simply wonderful! The world of Roil is super rich in history and absolutely chocked full of detail. It is clear that this world has been with the author for a long time and lots of love and care have gone into this product. The maps - especially the greyscale ones - are super detailed as well.

The more I read in this setting the more I want MORE supplements. You simply can't go wrong buying this product.

I must also say that the customer support from this company is beyond measure. There is a mailing list that you can join that sends out little tidbits of campaign information every week or so. I, having joined this bandwagon late in the game, was missing many of the mailings. I emailed Brian to see if I could get the back issues. Within 20 minutes I had ALL the backissues plus a thank you from him. Now that's service!!!
