I have only recently stated building and using scenics and after trying some other products I eventually purchased Caverns, Dungeons, Dungeon expansion, Terrian and Sewers, all in Black and White. The non Microtactix sets I bought were color and I was horrified at how fast you'll sprint through ink cartridges even though they look nice. The Microtactix sets have enough artwork so printing on appropriate colored paper works very well in making attractive scenes. Also you get "furniture" with most of the sets like chests, bookcases and so forth. The pieces have clear instructions and most assemble easily, the tricky ones are the most visually striking ones and are more time consuming than difficult. I really can't think of any negative aspect of the sets so I give them 5 stars across the board.

Great for assembling modular terrain tiles. A little drawback is that it's black and white, but I shouldn't complain about that since it's clearly stated in the description. Especially handy in the set are the trees. Quite hard to come by anywhere else!

This was the first set I purchased from Microtactix. Don't be put off because the set is in black-and-white. It is great that way. Want some green terrain for a field - print it on green cardstock. Want brown for dirt or mud - print it on brown cardstock. Dark green cardstock for swampy. Blue cardstock for water. You get great terrain that prints quickly on inkjet printers, plus you save bundles on ink!

Excellent product but a bit costly compared with the other Dirtcheap products. Still I will give it 5 Stars. Great for use with Children for Wargames as the grid system save haveing to use rules or Tape measures (and stops any arguments).

This is one of the first products that I purchased from Microtactix and it led to many other purchases. It works great for building modular terrain at a very low price. It all fits together well and is compatible with other Microtactix products. I use it with Budget Battlefield and like the 1" grid because I hate to measure when I'm playing a game. I have also reduced it to 1/2" grid for 15mm miniatures which works well but construction is slightly more difficult in that size. The finished pieces are as strong as foam terrain at a fraction of the cost, and, as with all Microtactix products, you can build as much as you like. Used with Georgia Pacific's natural cardstock (4 earthy colors - available at Walmart)it is easy to make great looking terrain. Very nice!

After purchasing this product and doing some assembly, I can say that this is my favorite way to create generic scenery for my miniatures games, now. Completely modular, each module is quite sturdy and the set comes with little stands to keep the modules together. Everything from hills to rivers and trenches are easily done with this set.

That said, it would be nice to see a set with a hex-grid or offset square-grid (functionally the same as a hex-grid) for some systems. It would also be nice to have a set with no grid at all. It would also be nice to have some sloped pieces, rather than the stepped look. However, I am fully satisfied with the product for the price asked.
