This is a fantastic little game. I would love to play test it, but haven't had the opportunity.

This is the kind of clever game that makes a great diversion for an eventing or two at a time. It's not the kind of game you'd play regularly, but it can serve as a nice break from a regular campaign.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
As others have said, an exceptional product. Prepare yourself for some very loud rolls, though.

LIKED: The flexibility.

DISLIKED: It takes an awful lot of dice to play.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Very clever little take on the old dungeon crawling experience. The "fact" rules make all the difference, prodcue a game that can be much more fun (and funny) than traditional systems, as well as reducing prep time drastically.

It's a very open system, in that very few things are really nailed down, and different options for play are on every other page. In some ways this is great, since it provides flexibility but it can also leave you a little up in the air, wondering exactly how it's supposed to play...some more examples with actual player diolog might ave been useful here.

The above is, overall, a minor complaint though and Donjon is definitely worth what you pay for it, especially if you're sick of the traditional dungeon hack games but still might like to revisit your roots.

I was so impressed with the rules after downloading, that me and my player abandoned our current game and rules, and have been playing Dunjon ever since.

Excellent set of rules, not perfect but very close. If you are a DM who is feed up with your players rule-playng. give these rules a go. The system is based on dice pools (need loads of d20's) resolution system. Each successful die means that the player (or DM is the player loses) gets to state one fact about their action which goes into the narration.

The names of the Atributes used to define the character took a bit of time getting use to. A rules summary sheet would also be useful.

i collect all sorts of games; my collection, when stacked up, is three times my height (i'm 6'5") and at the top of this stack, is my printout of Donjon. seriouisly.

we were going to play some dnd3.5

then i pulled this game out. its simple mechanic allowed me to play - we CO-GM'd the whole game (any other game allow you to not have a GM? well, none that work well..)

i got two words;;;; BUY IT. you wont regret it

After reading an excellent review about this game, I ventured my own hard-earned $10 to see if it was as intriguing as was posted. IT IS! I was pleasantly surprised that the game play mechanic was as ?simple? and fun as advertised. Most of the games I buy sit on my shelf until one of my groups decides to give it a try. Not this one! When I read the description to them, we started up a game that night. That alone made it well worth the purchase cost.

One warning I will give is that it uses a LOT of d20s for some rolls. In my second session, we used over 18 d20s for a few actions. My recommendation is to have at least 20 d20s available at the game table to ensure this does not interrupt your enjoyment of this game.

That aside, I would highly recommend Donjon to anyone who enjoys a good old-fashioned, loot the bodies, save the princess, find a giant in a room with only tiny sized doors type of role playing game.
