[Note: brief review. I'll try to expand on it later.]

Joe clearly understands the D&D rules, as most of the mechanics in his Book of Enchantment are solid. As a power-up for Enchanters, this book delivers. However, many DMs will be uncomfortable with letting one type of specialist wizard shine while others remain bland.

What's puzzling is the mish-mosh of other rules in the book that are not directly related to Enchantment. I think this detract's from the overall focus.

Still a worthwhile purchase, but only for those who are really into Enchanters.

Full of fun bits, all of them well thought out both creatively and mechanically. A great resource that I've loved as a GM and that my player's have loved, too.

This is the best d20 supplement I've ever read, bar none (that includes the couple of dozen print products I own in addition to all my pdfs). It grasps the big picture while simultaneously remembering the little touches.

Feats for everybody, spells with originality, items that are obvious only in retrospect, monsters you'll use, prestige classes that work, and NPCs to top it off. Plus the layout is better than WotC's.

I hope whoever is rewriting the core books for version 3.5 is paying attention. This is how rulebooks should be done.

Please keep writing, Joe.

This is a top-notch product. I've always wondered at how the magic in a lot of fantasy novels - mysterious, subtle, affecting the mind more than the body - is rarely represented in fantasy role-playing, where slash-bang is more important. This product addresses a great deal of that, with intelligently-written thoughts on the rules, new uses for skils, and some very interesting and powerful (not "munchkiny", powerful) spells. I highly recommend this book, and will encourage my party's enchanter player to pick it up.

Don't be put off by the title. This is excellent. For me, an exceptional product makes me want to use the material contained therein, and this book definitely has succeeded. It?s very well-thought out, the writer is very familiar with game rules and the material strives to be balanced. I would have preferred more illustrations, but that?s a minor point.

Given the title, I wasn?t expecting a supplement this good. I?d give it a 4.5 since there are minor typos and the lack of illustrations, but I?d bump it to a 5 considering the price. The most important thing about this supplement is the wealth of ideas and a fresh approach to a much-ignored magical school. Hopefully it won?t take another year for Throwing Dice Games to produce their next work.

I'm Dark Psion at EnWorld and WoC boards so you can probably guess my one and only complaint about this book ;). In fact, the alternate title could be, "How to create a nasty Psion(Telepath)" because much of this book is of great intrest to fans of psionics and can be easily converted.

And even if you don't use psionics, this is still a magnificent book. Not only new feats, PrCs and spells, but new ways of presenting them as well. The feat Templates are a simple, but great idea as are the composite skills, but the best is hidden within the PrCs, Minimum Paths. This is the classes to take this prestige class, great for players since it lets them know when they can take it and great for DMs since it helps them create a NPC using this PrC.

Some of the new spells are so nasty, your DM may want to keep them for his NPCs and the monster section finally gives us a Half-Fey template. There was one disturbing aspect of the book, when on the last page the author answered all of the questions I had thought of before I could ask them. Maybe Joe's Book of Divinations is coming next??
