Freebooters on the Frontier is to Dungeon World what Dungeon World was to the bevy of games it bested. Here, structure and imagination come together again at last, bringing what players across systems and levels of expertise expect. In my opinion, it is better than raw DW for players of D&D and AD&D because it returns some very familiar mechanics to the table. But it also suits players with other penchants. In fact, with Freebooters, I've united 35-year 1E veterans, leading edge rules-heavy advocates, persona-creating thespians, and even first-time gamer kids under fantastic experience of near-instant fun. The system holds up to longer campaigns as well, especially when combined with the more detailed rules of Lampblack's other DW expansion, The Perilous Wild (previously known as "Perilous Journeys"). I could write a book here encouraging you to take this modest plunge, but I prefer reviews that are short and emphatic. Buy Freebooters, Perilous Wilds, and the other companion products from L&B. I expect that you will be thrilled.
