The Perilous Wilds is an incredibly useful book for the GM toolkit. The advice and methods it contains aren't new, but tried-and-true techniques to develop and enhance your fantasy roleplaying setting. Nevertheless, the book manages to present the items in a fresh and engaging way. There is no extraneous chatter, no unnecessary fluff: there are a bare minimum of examples, and the art is small and unobtrusive.
Pound-for-pound, you will be hard-pressed to find a better value for your gaming dollar. It is amazing how much content is packed into 72 pages; I have gotten half as much use out of books three times as long. The group method of developing the campaign world ensures that it will be a new and interesting adventure for everyone. The new rules for exploration and followers are presented in a way that lends ideas on how to use these methods in other games, besides Dungeon World.
All told, I rate this product at 5 stars for content and 5 stars for presentation; I'd love to give an extra half-star just for the extra digital options, as you get both color and black-and-white covers, and in both jpg and png file formats.
