Very nice preview of the upcoming Cypher System Rulebook coming out next month. Illustrations are great, as expected from the Numenera/Strange artists, and sometimes you forget you are just reading a preview. This makes me want to delve into the coming book more.
For those that are still on the fence about getting the full product next month, this is the perfect way to see if this is going to be a quality product for you. You are not going to get much for playing the system beforehand but it gives you a good idea of what you will find in the final product.
Now there are some cons to these previews, but it is not specific to the product. A little more summarizing would be amazing for previews. For example, give a summery of each type of character so that the consumer may already have a type they may be motivated to by the book for; "Oh, wow! Adept sound like the class I want to play! I can't wait to read more about how they work!" This could be done simply with a typed page simply giving summaries of some selling points; in this case it would be the new class types and maybe a brief summery of what makes each setting different.
I hate to sound like I am comparing products, but White Wolf has an amazing intro chapter that is in the same format of all their books. Besides the "Hey, this is only a game" disclaimer, they summarise the chapters for the reader. This would be great for many games but even more so if it is going to be for a preview to help sell the product or at the very least get us pumped for it.
Overall, very well done. I just personally wish there was more detail to get me even more excited.
