What I love about this product is that the place feels REAL. The mix of pig herders to grocers to nobles to town-watch feels real. The shape of the buildings looks real. The location of the markets in relation to the church in relation to the castle looks real. The descriptions of who lives in the building and what their jobs are feels real.
Bottom line is this town just feels like it could have been a REAL place, and who knows (or cares), maybe it was.
That's why I bought it and use it in my campaign. I wanted a place that I as the GM could feel solid about -- a place and a map and set of demographics that I felt so confident about that I could sell it 100% to my players... a place that I really BELIEVED in, you know? That didn't feel like it came wet and steaming right out of somebody's.... Well... you know where. I wanted a place that I felt like I could actually time travel to.
Anyway, this is a high quality product and I love it because it provides the kind of rock solid realistic foundation that I can then build a believable fantasy setting on top of.
I highly recommend this author's work in general and the Medieval Market Town product in particular. It's a smashing bargain for such scrumptious work.
