In any game there is a mechanic that just needs further examination. In D&D 3.5 its the Attack of Opportunity. This little PDF is a gem for those on either side of the DMs screen. With well written prose and good examples this article delves into this mechanic of battle. I don't like attacks of opportunity, but I understand their purpose more because of this PDF. The core books did not explain the reason behind this rule properly, I found, but now I have a better understanding of the logic behind attack of opportunities.

I still won't use them, mind you, but I understand them better.
