A very respectful and detailed treatment of the City-State of the Invincible Overlord. The maps have been cleaned up while remaining faithful to the original. The writing is good, drawing upon the original (same locations, same shop owners) often expanding an idea into something a bit more coherent and readable. For instance, the menu at THE SILVER GOBLET remains the same, but the business is better described and the 9th level Fighter that owns the Inn now has some magic gear available (should you choose to use it).

The product also includes a remake of WRAITH OVERLORD, which details many of the regions beneath the city. I had not expected this and was very happy to discover the extra value added to an already loaded product.

This helps to explain the almost 300 pages of text and maps. The CSIO descriptive text of the town is still fairly brief, but adding a large expansion did, of course, increase the page count by a great deal.

The only downside that I can see is that the maps are all inside a PDF. You will have to have a tool to extract them if you wish to use the maps with VTT software, but once extracted and assembled, they range from large to massive.

This city suppliment has a a plethora of adventure hooks. If you enjoy a site-based campaign with an on-going and developing story, then this product is for you. It contains all of the original Judges Guild feel to it, with an additional amount of information and better organized. If I had any complaint, it would be that the original 5 level dingeon map was not updated and included. If tyou run a campaign in the Wilderlands, this is a must-have item.

I owned the original version of this put out by the judges guild ... sometime before 1980 i think. It was awful and wonderful, it made me cringe and laugh and occasionally say 'wow' with its cheesy yet amusing and sometimes astonishingly clever layout of plot and NPC writeups.

This new version is much more professional, the art is beautiful and its more complete feeling and much, much easier to read and work with. Its updated for the roleplayer of the 21st century - it should not fail to please anyone looking for an updated version of an old school game accessory.

I thought the art and text of the PDF is crisp and clean, the maps are wonderfully scanned for optimum presentation - the original map was huge and the print tiny - and I think this is a perfect way to present this information.

The only thing i might change is to make it a little more searchable but that would just be decorative frosting on this already yummy rpg cake.

Tremendous City. when combined w/ the extra download items on Judgesguild.com(index of locations, index on NPC's, etc...), it is very easy to use.

This product kicks butt. The citystate is huge with a lot off included and there is still room for expanison. A shopping trip in this city is an adventure and a night out having drinks could be ones last night out.

This is a great product as a city source book. Regardless of whether you wish to set the adventure in the City State or want to play in your own city, this will give you plenty of information to use as a resource. If the PCs ask "What's around here?", I can just use any of the hundreds of location descriptions. They can play a small part just for flavor or they can lead to other mini or large adventures. The maps are large and readable. I originally had a problem with the map resolution but drivethru customer service quickly fixed it. They really support their products.
