This might be the best OSR adaptation to come down the pipeline yet! Author Kevin Crawford gives away this jewel of an RPG for free, but had I paid $10 for it I would have considered it a bargain! This is the sort of heroic fantasy RPG I would want to run or play in.

Features include:

-- Cinematic combat and magic that makes 1st level heroes into badass threats -- Ability to seamlessly integrate old school published material into new settings or use it as-is -- Clever use of "new" school mechanics like "facts" to provide characters with RPG hooks and mechanical benefits -- Brilliant multi-classing rules

What Could be better?

-- Treatment of fantasy races (there is none now) -- More stuff! More Gifts, Spells, a Monster section, etc.

But this "game" is really the framework for designers to make there own classic OSR stuff--a template if you will. But it's a helluva a game besides that!

I can see using this to run a Planescape Campaign, and the ability to port in 2E stats without much alteration will make it a dream to use all of those old resources.

Bravo, Mr. Crawford! My only complaint? Make it a full-fledged Sine Nomine production with all of the bells and whistles!

Thanks for this amazing little game!

SUPERS Revised Edition

This game provides an excellent mix of detail and easy play. Based off of the old West End Games Star Wars D6 system, it offers some nifty innovations for super-heoric play and scales pretty well from street level heroes all the way up to cosmic threats.

Clean layout and loads of options make chargen a breeze and a pleasure. You can pretty much build exactly the hero or villain you want. Rules mechanisms exist to allow Batman/Superman types to exist in the same session without the mega-powerful character totally outshining his non-powered teammates.

GM's can tailor the game's lethality to their liking, and plenty of other optional rules exist to allow groups to create the sort of comic feel that's right for them.

We've made dozens of Marvel characters using these rules and been very please with the outcomes.

The game also contains a nifty index that makes the rules miniature or counter friendly--a great asset to folks who want to resolve combats on the grid! If you're looking for a supers game with mid-level crunch and excellent presentation, SUPERS! Rev. Ed. should make the top of your list!

While containing good information, this product was too short for $4.95. I feel like it could have used more play examples for the new rules.

Mr. Mohan's workman-like prose shines through best during the tale's many 'Mech combat scenes. As a story about 'Mech-based gladiatorial combat on the game world of Solaris VII, Mohan delivers plenty of vivid description as he tracks the career of rising star David Singh. Singh is a man with a past, trying to re-make himself in the sometimes deadly games on Solaris VII. As an independent fighter, every contest becomes a struggle for survival, and a potential economic hardship.

Any damage to his 70 ton Grasshopper BattleMech needs to be fixed before the next match, and funds for repairs can only come through victory. After running afoul of shady fighter promoters and the agents of rogue Houses, Singh struggles to find true allies in a world where treachery is the norm.

Mr. Mohan knows the BT universe, and the details in his prose show it!

Looking forward to more!
