Tales From the Fallen Empire
Publisher: Chapter 13 Press

I normally don't write reviews because i'm busy with other stuff, but I decided to do this one, because I'm very pleased with it. This was my test of the POD on RPGNOW, and I couldn't be happier. The printed book is excellent with no errors that I could find. I received it in 6 days after my order. I don't like reading PDFs on a screen all that much and usually print it. I ordered the Soft-cover POD and PDF for this book and both are very nice. The world of Tales from the Fallen Empire is very grim and really has a old Conan feel to it. I own a bunch of DCC material and really like the game. Tales from the Fallen Empire is just the type of setting I want to run. It adds 7 classes to the game if that is what you want, but if your using the setting it adds 9 races/cultures to run as 0-level characters ( 5 of which are separate non-human races). It also has cool seafaring rules! It also has a CoC type rule set for forbidden knowledge (called Lore) which makes magic more sinister/forbidden in keeping with a sword and sorcery setting. New patrons/monsters, and two adventures a funnel and one for 3rd-4th level characters. I gave it 5/5 because I really like the setting. The material from Goodman games is excellent, but I like this grimmer setting more.

My wish is that more of the PDFs from other companies will have a POD option.

Gygax magazine issue #2
Publisher: Solarian

I have both issue 1 and 2 now in pdf format. Personally I have enjoyed each issue. The articles are well written, and very nostalgic. Some cool ideas for gaming. I wish I had the space to subscribe to the magazine in print, but pdf is easier to store. I find this to be a great replacement for Dragon, and the much missed Shadis! I also love the adds for games and gaming accessories.

It Came From Beyond The Still - Somethin's in the Sauce
Publisher: Dastardly Designed Games

The first game was very cool. Somethin's in the Sauce is even cooler! It adds in two new hillbilly clans, cultists, zombies, those Meddling Kids, and 13 new scenarios. It is a complete game as well so you don't need the first one, but you'll want it for the scenarios, factions, and humor. The rules are still one page. The coolest part is the Cultist faction. You'll be able to use your Call of Cthulhu miniatures here. The cultists can summon monsters and their nasty. Combined with the first rule set you now have everything necessary for some serious B movie miniature gaming. I plan on doing a Tucker and Dale vs Evil scenario using the Meddling Kids, or a Wrong Turn style scenario using the Cultists and the Meddling Kids. I love this rule set! It is not a serious wargame. It is meant for fun, but it is very well done.

It Came From Beyond The Still Full Version
Publisher: Dastardly Designed Games
by Karl H. [Verified Purchaser]

Hillbillies vs Aliens is the idea! They pull it off quite well. The game is super simple. The factions are well done. There are 3 alien factions, two hillbilly clans, plus the Men in Plaid, and two Authority factions. 10 scenarios. The actual rules are basically one page. The rest of the book is factions, weapons, and scenarios, and funny background. I looked on online and found that there are now figures for almost all the factions, with more coming. This is why I bought the rules. The figures are very well done. I found some card stock trailers on Wargame Vault as well. This not a serious wargame, but one meant for fun and humor. I'm hoping to spend the next year buying and painting the figures then running a bunch of scenarios at a convention. Personally, if you like the idea of hillbillies fighting aliens you should probably get these rules. I am very pleased with them.

Publisher: Two Hour Wargames
by Karl H. [Verified Purchaser]

ATZ uses the Chain Reaction rule system, which is free to download. If you want to see what it's like before purchase. The system allows you to play solo, coop, or head to head. The ATZ rule set is fairly well written, but could use a little reorganization. However reading it through once and then sitting down with some miniatures to move around allowed me to figure it out with no issues. Two Hour Wargames also has a excellent Yahoo support group, if you have questions. The system is completely different than any other miniatures system I've played, so it may take some getting used to, but it really is great fun solo and coop. It has light rpg elements as well.

The ATZ game itself is excellent. It may be the best set of zombie plague rules out there. It plays fast and has lots of pop up surprises. I am using 15 mm figures from Rebel Minis, which are awesome in detail and price. My terrain is from World Works, and I printed it to 66% size which worked really nice. You can also use model train stuff which is very close to 15mm, can't remember the letter sacle at the moment. The game works with any scale miniatures, I just chose 15mm because it is much cheaper. Although there are many awesome paper miniatures on this site, as well great metal/plastic miniatures for zombies by a bunch of different manufacturers.

If you like zombie games and want to have a good time I highly recommend this rule set.
