I really like the Forge Studios stuff, this art work is very useful and inspiring, works well for other settings as well, well worth the purchase, and it’s hard to match the quality and variety by searching goggle for art, that is not half as good or useful.

The unnecessary division of the various clip art pieces into separate pages was annoying.

Another great sketchbook. Whether you are a Ptolus fanatic or a DM of any fantasy city out there, you can give it a try. All the art will be usable, one way or another, and will add great flavor to your games. I appreciate the modest-looking buildings, the elven properties... this is great work. Highly recommended.

Great sketchbook that has given me, and my players, a better feel of Midtown in the Ptolus setting by Monte Cook. The book is divided into two areas: sketches that appear to be on parchment and the same sketches in black and white.

Would like to see The Forge Studios complete the remaining areas of Ptolus not already released.

Already a fan of their work, I was pleased to learn that The Forge Studios had been picked to illustrate Ptolus: Monte Cook's City By The Spire. I believe this was an excellent choice. In the Ptolus Sketchbook Vol. 1: Midtown, The Forge Studios get to do what they do best - to help create the unique architectural look and feel for that setting. The importance of illustrations (and illustrators) is often overlooked by gamers, but their work is invaluable as visiual aids when it comes to setting the tone of a setting or location in a game. I'm certainly looking forward to the future installments in this series of products.

LIKED: Arguably the best work from The Forge Studios to date. You can tell that the artists have a background in architecture and a good sense of credible fantasy settings. Also, the art in this product is generic enough to be used for any fantasy setting, whether your are planning to use Ptolus or not.

DISLIKED: Some might have preferred the Ptolus Sketchbook as an art pack of jpeg images rather than a PDF, but for me personally that's not a problem. Ultimately, the usefulfulness of this product is only limited by your own taste and style in gaming.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I have to completely disagree with the first reviewer. I thought this sproduct was great. It got me excited about Ptolus all over again. The art is fantastic and gives you a great idea what parts of Ptolus look like. And I do not think that any of the complaints of the first reviewer are valid. I am looking foward to more of these sketchbooks. The page number reference complaint is especially silly as the page number references help you easily locate information on the sketch in uqestion and besides, it fits in with the whle ease-of-use atmosphere the Mr. Cook has tried to instill into the big book. My only complaint might be that it would be nice to have some of the sketches (like the blank menu, signpost, flier, and ticket) available in a format in which a user could more easily add their own text - maybe a form within Adobe Reader, or a version that opens in a word processing program - not all of us have Photoshop and/or Illustrator. I will buy more of these without hesitation.

I am disappointed in this product. It has none of the benefits of it being a PDF.

No bookmarks.

I don't mind the parchment background, but the fake binding border (all on the same side too) takes away from it.

The (See "Ptolus: City by the Spire", page xxx) would be nice in a table of contents or in bookmarks. Not part of the picture.

Your logo and telling us which sketchbook it is on each black & white page is a waste of space and ink.

When there are two pieces of art on one page, some of them are at 90 degrees of the other. So you have one right side up, and another sideways.

Only with some serious doctoring will I print this out. Even if I paid half price this would get only 2 stars out of five.

After seeing your work in the Ptolus previews, I'm surprised and appalled.
