Very nice product, well worth the purchase. It's got an old-school look like the best of the 80's D&D modules.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Some great stuff in here, all line art, which is a plus. The variety is pretty good overall, with images ranging from stand alone characters to action shots (like a dwarf swinging his weapon at a monster).

Easy to color too, if need be. I like this alot, and for the price it can't be beat. I am using some of this in my next product. Great Stuff!

LIKED: Good quality, B+w line art, great price.

DISLIKED: product comes as a PDF, rather than individual images.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
nice looking images in nice dimensions for publishers. The compositions are very similar, which would make it difficult to use multiple images in one product, but all in all good.

Imagine wanting to make a small simple project or add a touch of flavor to the notes of a home brewed campaign... imagine also the costs of hiring a decent artist plus the wait for such a piece to be finished... Especially if the piece of artwork in question was of a fairly common theme?

Image Portfolio Anthology Volume 1 is a solution that has been long overdue. In fact, after purchasing this product I actually feel guilty that I was able to get such high quality, commercial ready, royalty free licensed artwork so cheaply. The art is very, very good and the images conform to most of the industry standards. As such, the warriors look like warriors, the trolls look like trolls, etc. etc. etc.

The only problem that I have found with this product is that I'm afraid that as cheap as the publisher is letting this stuff roll out the door that I'm either going to become spoiled on the price only to find future releases at a much higher rate or that the publisher (and this is worse) quits developing such art releases altogether due to return income being too low. Please buy this product... at the rate per image the cost is not even worth debating! Even if I could personally draw this well myself it wouldn't be worth the time as compared to what I'm paying for the images in Image Portfolio Anthology Volume 1. Please, again, buy this product and allow the publisher to GIVE US MORE!!!

This is a very good value for any small publisher. I found plenty of useful images in this collection.

Some people in other reviews of these individual titles have complained about the fact that the files are in PDF format. This is a non-issue, as it is easy to cut images from a PDF with Adobe Reader 5.0 or higher. The files are all less than 2 MB when you get them into a photo editor, which is a little on the small side, but they are still adequate.

My only reason for not giving it a 5 is that it didn't have enough range of images. It has plenty of barbarian and rogue-looking images in it, but not many knights, wizards, or clerics. Out of 60 images there is less than 5 of someone casting a spell. However, there are plenty of melee scenes.

I really like this series and look forward to more.

I think I'll say: "High quality gallery of violence." 60 images, all in the same style: line drawings with lots of black, giving quite a "hard" look. The people look ordinary and fallible, rather than fantasy supermodels. With a couple of exceptions, all the pics are of people fighting or about to fight. Clearly some are intended as character illustrations, and some as GM flashcards - "You turn the corner and see... eight monks with staffs ready". Others are tableaux with pairs of combatants, and two or three are people exploring some location: these might be the most suitable for publishers. It's aimed at fairly traditional D&D-type fantasy, with the familiar races and classes.

Already a fan of the Image Portfolio: Fantasy Cityscape, I decided to pick this one up as well. I am glad I did. The collection of artwork here presents an excellent variety of fantasy archetypes and staples that are sure to come in handy whether you are a small-press publisher or a DM. For the price you get a great source of staple images to choose from and probably a few ideas to spark up your imagination as well.

What you get for $6 is 60 detailed quality Black & White images. The images are in a single PDF so I am unsure as to what the license agreement allows me to do with these images. For instance I am not allowed to modify the software so does this mean I cnnot extract the images from the PDF and sve them as a JPG? What about re-sizing the images? Some clarification needs to be addressed. I am giving this 4 stars, however it will deserve a 1 if I'm unable to do any of the above.

You can make all of those changes. Just don't take off the artist's signature. Anything is OK with us. Peace, Louis Porter Jr. Louis Porter Jr. Design

I've found this to be a useful product. Anyone who plans on publishing fantasy PDFs should consider this PDF before buying a single original illustration.
