The maps are okay but not brilliant. Featuring plain text, black and white illustrations, and a variety of locations, I really felt like I was getting maps that were used for someone's campaign rather than a set of maps that I could use as a springboard. Don't get me wrong--I'll use the maps, and they're useful to someone, but they're only so-so.

Using the PDF features such as bookmarks and layers would have helped (in fact, since I play Hero sometimes, having either a hex grid or a square grid would have helped). There is no grid on any map, and the scale is likewise unmarked. The typewriter font used throughout--probably Courier New, but I'm not an expert--does nothing to enhance the visuals. Scale is usually provided but not always, though it's never numbered. The spelling mistakes are an annoyance but can be surmounted. You can't give the maps to players without adjustment; you can't add your own keys.

LIKED: Wide variety of locations.

DISLIKED: No use of PDF features, no tiling for large maps, no grids, spelling errors even on first page.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Quite pitiful. The map designers can't spell. And I could have made better maps with CC2.

LIKED: Nothing.

DISLIKED: The pencils were inconsistent. The map content was rarely helpful. The attempt at little bits of imaginative content ended up as quite unoriginal. And the typos were sad. I feel bad for rpgnow for having to host things like this.

QUALITY: Poor

VALUE: Ripped Off
Overall not very good. The maps had scale issues and were not very "inventive". They also were not "generic" enough to throw down anywhere.

LIKED: The price.

DISLIKED: See above.

QUALITY: Poor

VALUE: Disappointed
Many of the plans in this set are extremely poor quality! They appear that they were created using an old ascii program from the early 1980's. Not very good compared to what is currently available. I have downloaded maps of very-good to extremely good quality on the internet for FREE.

Eventhough the maps had a scale, the scale was off to the side of the drawing. It would have been much better if the maps were created using a hex or square graph.

For me to use these, I would have to re-do them.

Not completely worthless. The maps have given me ideas to use.

LIKED: Gave me ideas for my own modern floorplans.

DISLIKED: poor quality art

QUALITY: Poor

VALUE: Disappointed
I read all the reviews of the various Modern Maps volumes (plus the re-issue of volume 1 known as "Blueprints") and I thought maybe everyone was wanting something in particular, such as maps to use with minatures or some such. I figured since I was going to use the maps to help write a story maybe it would be okay. Well, its not. I can't say much about this product that is good. I should have listened to other people.

The best I have to offer is "its cheap." But the cheapness REALLY shines through. Kinda makes me want to go about town touring office buildings so I can create my own set of maps (to scale), PDF'em, and sale them on here for $6.

The time it would have taken me to step outside and make some judgment calls about what the inside of that restaurant looked like THE LAST TIME I WAS IN THERE would have been a better use of my time than actually reading the reviews and deciding to give the guys a break. But then again, there was no free sample... maybe there was no free sample because they knew if you saw EVEN THEIR BEST map, you wouldn't buy.

Avoid like the plague!

Go hangout in other people's house, stores, banks, etc. etc. make mental notes, but don't look like you are casing the joint, and then when you get home pencil it in on graph paper. Better investment.

Nice sketches but without 5' squares... good for ideas, but you'll end up redrawing to get scale.

Not quite what I expected. Some of thes empas were usable, bit most lacked detail, or were for a single room. A more consistent scale, and multi-room buildings and outdoor sections would be a lot more useful. A good start for ideas, but the experienced GM could easily do without.

Based on the artwork in Haven, I was really expecting the maps to be more detailed. Some of the maps hardly even serve a purpose. All in all, this product can be passed up for more detailed photos or maps.

A nice collection of maps. Most of them good, though a few of them are bad.

There's nothing in here that's really remarkable or special. Most of the maps are downright ugly, and there are an embarrassing number of spelling errors. You can scrounge up better maps than these by looking around online or studying the fire escape plans found in most public buildings. The only thing that would make these maps really worthwhile is if they had been drawn on a combat grid so that they would be ready to use; unfortunately, the maps are at all different scales and don't have any sort of gridlines on them, so they're no more useful than any map you could pull off the Web.

As a GM, I purchase gaming resources so that I can begin using them immediately without a lot of prep time. Modern Maps X doesn't fit the bill. Spend your money elsewhere.

Absolutely terrible. The maps are unrealistically designed to fir in the same amount of page space. Proportions are also often wrong.

Not... that... good. Practically useless, actually. Definitely NOT worth eight bucks. This is a REALLY good idea, as there's not a lot of Modern-oriented source material out there on the gaming market. But this was just weak. Not totally worthless, but definitely not worth more than a couple bucks.

Dammit. I wish I had read Michael Dobbs' comment before blowing $8.00 on these maps. I was a little bothered by the fact that there were no samples for me to look at before buying, but I figured what the hell, it's only $8. Well, I gambled and lost.

If you are absolutely MISERABLE at making your own maps, then this product will be worth it for you. But if you are just looking for good ideas or some quick maps to plop into your game, this is not the product for you.

I will sell you my PDF for half price, if you want. It's worthless to me.
