Infinite Space: Themes: The Outlaw Crew (SFRPG)
Publisher: LPJ Design
by A customer [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/06/2017 19:37:29

The themes provided by LPJ for Starfinder made me decide to allow all of my characters to take second Themes for their characters. Here are Themes missing from the original Starfinder offering. No matter how good your Mystic is, having a Doctor in the party is essential. And being an Envoy with the Captain Theme makes much more sense to command a starship.

Castle Falkenstein: Curious Creatures
Publisher: Fat Goblin Games
by A customer [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/29/2017 17:52:42

As a long-time Castle Falkenstein player and Host, I jumped at the idea of a new supplement for the game and I was not disappointed. The first thing that I noted was that I now had the mechanics for a character based on Rudyard Kipling's Mowgli, or some of the American Legends (Davy Crocket comes to mind). The idea that the narrator was the young apprentice of Doctor Doolittle was particularly apt. This book also provided a mechanic for something I felt had been missing from New Europa's magicks; Familiars. Now if a wizard decided to keep a black cat, or a raven, as a familiar, there existed a mechanical advantage (and some disadvantages) to doing so.

Altogether, this book was fantastic, and I look forward to the opportunity to bring it into my future Castle Falkenstein games.

A Spark in Fate Core
Publisher: Genesis of Legend Publishing
by Bryce C. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/06/2013 20:09:28

I picked this up because I did have a copy of Spark, and of Fate Core, so I was intrigued to see how the two books meshed. The result was pretty impressive, as I love the idea of allowing the Players to invest themselves in the setting creation, and this product allows for just that. Not only does it give the Players investment, it allows the GM an opportunity to see just what kinds of stories appeal to each player, while allowing the other players a perspective as well, so that when the actual setting is complete, everybody understands what it is that the players desire to experience, and they can create characters that will fully inhabit the setting.

True20 Adventure Roleplaying
Publisher: Green Ronin Publishing

Huzzah! for True20. Green Ronin has finally taken the roleplaying juggernaut, and brought it full-circle. Once again I'm pleased with the creation of a character, and the developement of a story for that character. And now, the system is really about a D20, and not about a handful of variable polyhedra. Anyone who looks forward to a good roleplaying session will love True20.

LIKED: I like the fact that you only need one die in order to resolve all conflicts in the story, as well as the fact that games can now be more story based.

DISLIKED: I prefer a classless/leveless system, but I can live with this.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I'm impressed by Narrative Combat. I feel that a system that highlights storytelling, rather then accounting, is necessary to fulfil the needs of roleplayers.

LIKED: The design, and layout make it easy to use Narrative Combat, as a PDF, or in print

DISLIKED: There is nothing I don't like about it.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I'm quite pleased with what I've seen in Posthuman. This is something that D20 has needed, and I'm sure I'll find it applicable to the D20 Modern, and D20 Future gaming that I'm doing. I also feel it will be useful with the Fourth Millenium setting material.

LIKED: I liked everything about this product

DISLIKED: See above

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
