I hope you like hymns because I'm here to sing praises about these guys.

Heroic Maps continue to publish consistently outstanding work time and time again, and this addition to their stock is no exception.

A good sized tavern with bar area, private/kitchen areas, and a host of rooms upstairs makes this a great location for either a one-off stop for the party on the way somewhere else, or indeed as the main source of drunken frolicking for the past over the course of an adventure. There's even room to include a few secrets and intrigue in the basement area for the players to explore, providing all you need to turn this tavern visit in an adventure all of it's own.

The quality of the graphics is outstanding, the pfd and jpeg images you receive for this map are produced at more than ample resolution for high quality printing. The map comes to life even more when you make props to fill it with. When pasted on to cardboard/foamboard you can bring this map in to the world of 2.5D dungeon crafting easily - reprint the walls and glue them over, craft doors to fill the gaps provided, etc.

Right now I'm using 3D papercraft props from other sources to fill the rooms with, but I'd love to see a set released by HM themselves and have no doubt they'd be of the same quality as the rest of their work.

Check out the preview, imagine it filled with props and NPCs, and imagine how excited your players will be to have a good old fashioned bar brawl here.

Hi Jamie. Many thanks for the kind words. We\'re really glad that Wayfarers Inn is providing you with so much use and enjoyment. 3D furniture is something we\'ve thought about, and may be a future project of ours Thanks again.

This map is of the outstanding quality as the others, beautifully done. The mediocre rating stems from the fact that the PDF's images aren't clickable as images and therefore aren't easily exported to a paint program (like photoshop) for assembly. This is an even bigger pain when the maps come only as a PDF, without the full-map JPEG as some of the other products do.

For consistency, please either 1) produce the PDF's so that the images are clickable or 2) provide a full high-quality jpeg version in your product (as you do with some of them already)

Do one or the other consistently and all Heroic Maps products would get 5 stars!

Thanks!

Hi Tony, Many thanks for your kind words regarding the quality of the artwork included in Wayfarers Inn (and other maps). The inclusion of full jpeg versions was something we didn\'t think of doing until we had released our first 14 or so products, and we were sp excited about new releases we forgot to go back and include full versions for the earlier maps. However, that\'s been rectified now - all maps now have full jpeg versions. If you download Wayfarers Inn again from your account you\'ll see the updated file. Hope it makes it easier for you to use and enjoy Thanks Joe & Sarah Heroic Maps

This is a well-designed set of 'battlemap' sized images of a quite substantial inn, complete with cellars and an upper floor with (one imagines) rooms to rent.

Detailing is good, with a crisp and clean style to the artwork. Although some floor features - planking, carpets, tiles/flagstones, etc. are shown there is no furniture and no labelling - even on the overview plans - of what each room is used for so you will have to add any such detail as you see fit.

The suggestion is made that this is an inn set up somewhere reasonably remote to serve the needs of travellers. The ground floor is in two portions with an archway between, I think that one side is supposed to provide stabling and the other side facilities for guests... that is, provided they can get in: the plans omit to show any doors!

The upper floor has, one imagines, rooms for rent and the innkeeper's own quarters. Again you will need to determine what goes where and locate doors and windows.

Overall, it's quite nice but could have done with a little more detail.

Thanks for the interesting and detailed review, Megan. The large groundfloor room on the left is supposed to be a bar room, but now I can see why you thought it might be a stable area. In fact, that is an excellent suggestion. I leave the boards a bit non-specific so that players can use them as they see fit. For instance, someone may choose to use this as a slightly dilapidated manor house. I designed these boards orginally for use with the game Heroquest, so they are presented without doors and furniture to allow gamers to add their own wherever they want them. We use 3D doors/furniture, but other methods work just as well. I can see it is worth adding a note on doors/furniture to my descriptions for users of other game systems, so thank you for highlighting that.
