Pathfinder gave us a great witch class for their 1st Edition game (and 2nd Edition too) and there was plenty of 3rd party support for it. Here is one of many of those products.

10 Witch Magic Items

What it says on the label. PDF. 11 pages, $0.99. Color art throughout.

This PDF is 11 pages, but one is for the cover, one for the title, one for the OGL, and two for ads. This gives us five pages of content.

Inside are 10 items of various levels of power.

  • Opportunistic Hex weapon special ability (inflicts an offensive hex as part of an attack of opportunity, and reminds folks why they fear witches!)
  • Amulet of the Witch (Use a hex as a swift action and take your foes by surprise without wasting an action.)
  • Boots of the Beldam (When someone looks away you disappear, maintaining your air of the mysterious mistress of the dark arts)
  • Circlet of the Crone (Gain or enhance three of the witch's most vile hexes and maintain that sinister reputation that witches possess.)
  • Familiar Figurine (Your familiar can become a figurine of wondrous power and become an animal companion for a short time, and show why a familiar is so important to a witch.)
  • Habiliment of the Harridan (Inflict a curse upon a creature that fails a save against your spells, adding an additional effect without losing an action.)
  • Patron’s Sark (Make it easier to enhance your patron spells with metamagic feats, and show off the value of your patron over other forms of spellcasting)
  • Ring of the Virago (Use your spirit to take control of any other creature with the help of your familiar, and remind folks why you have such a sinister reputation.)
  • Talon Gloves (Your nails become dangerous weapons, more so if you already possess that hex, giving you a weapon on par with the warrior’s mightiest sword).
  • "The Fragment of Witchery" Legacy Item (Let your magic item level up with you, and provide you with a reason why the world around you will suffer a witch to live!)

So it kind of packs a punch really and really keyed to the Pathfinder witch class. I would certainly try to convert any or all of these for use with other witches I have made and I think I can find a place for them in my War of the Witch Queens campaign.

An Endzeitgeist.com review

This collection of magic items intended for the witch-class is 11 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, 2 pages of advertisement, leaving us with 6 pages of content, so let's take a look, shall we?

All right, we kick off with a new weapon quality the opportunistic hex quality at +1, which allows you to 1/day deliver a hex via a touch attack with the enchanted weapon.

The first of the items herein would be the amulet of the witch (which, like most items herein comes in 3 versions - lesser, greater and superior): The amulet, depending on its quality, allows you to activate hexes with a casting duration of less than a full round as a swift action a limited amount of times per day. The boots of Beldam allow witches to teleport and become invisible when teleporting into concealment and the circlet of the crone nets access to the scar hex 1/day or allows her to increase the DCs of said hexes' effects and the greater and superior versions also offer the retribution and death curse hexes respectively.

We also get the Familiar Figurine, which allows you to transform your familiar into a figurine that may act as an animal companion for you. There also are 5 versions of the habiliment of the harridan, which allows witches to add a curse to a spell she casts. Patron's Sarks decrease the metamagic level increase when used for patron spells and greater sarks for example, also net you access to metamagic feats usable exclusively in conjunction with patron spells. Ring of the Viragos allow you to magic jar foes and there also are gloves that net access to the nails-hex/improve the hex.

Finally, we also get a new legacy item - The Fragment of Witchery. Looking like a root, this might well be the work of Baba Yaga - and it shows: Allowing familiars to soak a limited amount of damage each day, balefully polymorph foes, get an extradimensional sanctum, encase others in an ageless cocoon, utter a curse that breaks a creature's power to wield arcane magic and enter a devastating form that, while immobile, massively boosts her powers - all in all a great item!

Conclusion:

Editing and formatting are top-notch, I didn't notice any glitches. Layout adheres to RiP's twop-column full color standard and the pdf comes fully bookmarked in spite of its short length - awesome! The artwork is fitting stock.

This pdf could have gone the easy road - author Steven D. Russell didn't. Instead of getting the minimum, we get multiple versions of each item and even a legacy item with a massive array of abilities, background etc. - and better yet, while the basic idea between some of the items are the same, the variety is there and for the low price, this pdf indeed does deliver and should have witches cackle with glee - my final verdict will hence clock in at 5 stars - plus the seal of approval for going the extra mile with the interesting abilities of the legacy item.

Endzeitgeist out.

Without further ado, this product jumps straight in to present 10 magical items designed for witches. All sorts of items - amulets, weapons, clothing, jewellry - all crafted with the same purpose: to confer that little edge to the witch who carries, wields or wears them.

Each shows evidence of having been thought through and considered, with sound game mechanics (nothing too powerful yet quite distinctive) coupled with flavour text that covers both what it looks like and what you do with it. However I am now trying to find out what a 'sark' is, the description under the entry for the Patron's Sark rather begs the question: "This short undergarment appears to be either black or white depending on what angle you are looking at it though it never appears to mix colors or appear grey. It is often intricately embroidered with symbols that are associated with a specific witch's patron".... OK, a quick Google tells me it is a type of chemise, so we're still left wondering what nicely-brought up young witch is doing showing her slip in public! Getting a bonus to metamagic feats used when casting patron spells, that's what, it appears.

Nine of the items here are regular magical items, the tenth is a 'Legacy Item' which has the capacity to grow in power as the wielder gains levels. It's a minor artefact called a Fragment of Witchery which looks like a tree root and is vaguely humanoid in shape. Mandrake, anyone? Each increase in power requires that a ritual be performed to unlock the powers, a nice parallel to witch practices.

Overall this is an interesting collection, so if you play a witch or GM a party containing one, this is well worth a look.
