Numenera

Warning the game is not simple. Advice Play it anyways. Numenera is an idea that has been carved perfectly from the brains of Monte Cook and Co. It's an open sandbox that offers beauty and destruction without making you sweat your beard off counting bonuses and hoarding XP. Numenera is a work of art that doesn't run out. Its only burden is trying to play the game as fast as you can. Nation spanning epics and Lovecraftian horror all find themselves a home here. Do what you want do what you will the game is open to your imagination, and ps, GM's barely need to roll. Hehehe.

Short Answer: What you need, and some of what you want. Long Answer: The game offers a number of ways to play your character and does it in a way perfect for beginnners, but this has its drawbacks. The game lacks a racial selection, and while this helps its approachability, it leaves a small hole for people used to it. The game also has a slightly bizarre characteristic system. Which requires you to have large numbers, and gives the game a tougher scale of difficulty for beginners. My final problem is the games exclusion of Satyrs, who, while they may not be the apex of heroisim would be awesome to play as.

Short answer: Good Game Long Answer: I feel the game has a good approachability for anyone who has been adventuring in RPG land for a while and know their way around dice systems. It has an overall good cohesion within its dice system and rules, I felt like it is adding to and getting rid of parts of the greek mythos. Diluting or filling in pieces, but like Jurassic Park, the game retains its distinctly Greek feel, and with a little background research a DM/GM can create sprawling cities with their Agoras filled to the brim with Orichalcum, or an island nation plagued by the mysterious Sea Peoples. The game would be easy for beginners, and simple, but, fun for veterans.
