This is my favorite format for adventures. A big old sandbox full of locations, NPCs, and events to occur if the PCs don’t change things. About to run this for my local group using Shadow of the Weird Wizard, and rereading it reminded me how fantastic it is.

An old school style game that tries new things. I particularly love the archer and scout classes. The world is dark and harsh. The community building process ties characters to the community they must defend.

Monsters have new twists, my group was surprised when the razerwing owlbear could fly.

Worth a look even if you just want to steal ideas for other old school games.

A great set of spells that aren't your standard spells. You can easily adapt them for any old school fantasy rpg if you want some magic with a darker tone.

A high politics scenario, best if used as the end of the series. Can be adapted to any fantasy city where the PC's have done wotk for the ruling class. An excellent conclusion for a fun little adventure path.

Cultists trying to summon a demon in the slums, what could go wrong? I don't think there are enough fantasy city adventures, and this one can easily be incorporated into any campaign.

A simple quest to retrieve a sacred stone from a forbidden temple. What could go wrong? Perfect little sidequest that can be dropped into any fantasy campaign.

A city based murder mystery toolbox. Full of ideas, and a nice change of pace between dungeon delves. Also pairs well with part four, I would use this one to help introduce npcs for that one. The whole series is shaping up into a nice campaign.

A very creepy tomb I plan to incorprate into my game. As always, jim knows delivers a lot of playable ideas in a short amount of space. I look forward to the next one in the series and perhaps a printed collection at the end of the year.

The Protocol games are already a fantastic way to run a single session Rpg, but this expanded version is a great improvement on an already excellent format. The charts change as the story progresses, allowing the designer to guide a more specific play experience. I'm looking forward to more of these. I highly recomend giving it a try.
